The demo of the PC version of The Last Remnant recently was released on Steam. This article takes an anecdotal look at the many mistakes present in the demo.

If you actually play the PC demo for the game you’ll probably think that. At first I thought it was just a terrible, terrible port, and it is. The port is probably the most sloppy I’ve every seen. The controls, the options, and everything are just pathetic. Then I found out that it was more than that, the actual game was horrible too. It’s so bad, I actually laughed at it several times.

RPGs like this are intended to be used with a PC controller, I think, dude.
It only partly worked with mine though which was very frustrating..seems like that Xbox 360 PC controller is the best way to go..

I was also very confused by it though and didn't know what to do, gave up.....definitely should've had a tutorial or a manual included.

Probably yes, but they should at least give you decent control options if you don't have one.

why is it that pc gamers simply can't fathom ever playing a video game without a mouse?

      Overgeneralizing .

Pssst, I play console games too. I expect to be able to use my PC controls when I buy a PC game though. I don't expect to have to go out and buy another controller when I have a giant keyboard filled with buttons and a nice mouse.

You honestly play racing and fighting games and stuff with a kb/mouse? Try that online.

Nah, I don't really play those genres, but when I do, I play them on the console. But this game could easily be optimized for PC use, they just decided that the default controls need to suck and be unexplained. = P

i was talking about the guys who pick up a playstation controller and say "WTF you cant play a fps with this its impossible god i need a mouse you guys are all fags for using these". and that's what this dude strikes me as seeing as he bitched about no mouse support like 'well i started it up and WHAT THE HELL THERES NO MOUSE CONTROL' like there is no other possible input method on a pc which is even feasible or manageable. he then bitched about it for like 2 more paragraphs.

That just made my *bleep*ing day. Deserves an applause at least.

I do think a keyboard and mouse are definitely better for shooters, but that doesn't mean a controller can't do a great job, too, as games like Halo and Perfect Dark have proven in the past. But yeah, there's good reason cross-platform play between console and PC owners is scarce..Microsoft have said outright this is one of the big ones.

Uhhh, I expect that on a PC. It's kind of standard. I should at least be able to select something. It's like a title screen on the 360 not using the analog stick, but the d-pad. It's awkward because it's the first thing you naturally try.

I played the demo and yeah, I missed the mouse a lot , and ya , the game looked pretty boring. Just your super-generalized RPG stuff and then extensive, unexciting battles. Game isn't for me.

lwelyk> Yeah, rethinking it, it couldve been pretty great with a mouse. Damn Squenix.

I played half of it on the 360 and quit. The combat system was just as bad as people say it is. It's set up for grander, large-scale battles, and even then it's not very interactive. The format is simply tedious for the multitudes of small-scale battles, which is made worse by the fact that you have to train your characters for hours and hours on end in order to be able to progress. Don't get me wrong, it was quite fun to strategize the few large-scale boss battles you get into, but it's not nearly worth it.

Doesn't matter when it's coming out since it's not worth the money.

I am my own best critic, I'll decide for myself if the game is worth playing.

The game sucks anyway, I got it on 360 thinking it'd be cool.

    It wasn't.

    Waste of money D;
