Ryan Rigney of SlapStic.com begs the question of why NO ONE is reviewing XNA games. Shouldn't a gaming platform with over 200 games have critics weighing in on it? This is discussed, and some ideas are tossed out, after the jump.

We need a site that will do a mini-review for each game, (longer if necessary) and post a score (letter grade, preferably?) and then provide a section of the site that makes browsing to find the best games easy (kind of the way VC-Reviews.com, a Virtual Console reviews site, does it). Quick, to the point, and it would raise interest in XNA Community Games.

All of the XNA community games suck to my opinion. Not worth noticing.

Unless you have played every community game, and I doubt you have, then you shouldn't be saying that.

Yes, most community games are crap. But there are some good ones out there Biology Battle is a great one for anyone who loves Geometry Wars. Weapon of Choice is a cool and unique side scrolling shooter. Those are my two favorites, and there are more good games out there if you are willing to weed through the crap. Which is the reason for the article, there is no place to turn that reviews every community game.

Community Games on the 360 are basically like iPhone/iPod Touch Apps. Some of them aren't even games. They are tools.

Possibly the only good community game I've seen so far is Rumble Massage. It really is epic. And so is the sequel, Rumble Masseuse, which allows you to go onto Xbox Live and control the other person's controller.

But seriously, some community games are cool, but a lot of them are just bad. A majority of the community games aren't worth the money.

All they need to do is bring out that Ninja/Meat Cleaver game they showed us before. That game was amazing.

it might have something to do with that xna bullshit being a pain in the ass to use.

there is a japanese app in production which will be much less powerful, and a hell of a lot simpler (uses a GUI with built in options instead of raw coding), but easier to use which will have capabilities of outputting games to be run on an xbox 360. there'll probably be at least a few more xbl community games in the coming year (the app has a demo out in japan right now).

Its a pain in the ass for newbs at it. It was built for developers as a game development tool, not for everyone. Although that boku thing looks like it could turn out nicely.

i know my way around a few different programming languages - it wasn't the syntax that was difficult for me (c# isnt bad apparently. i was willing to get used to it, but...), i simply couldn't figure out how to get the damn compiler to just take me to an empty document, because apparently it only works with those needlessly robust M$ compilers.. everything was layed out so horribly, i just gave up, uninstalled it, and went back to normal PC app development.

that's just my experience with it = pain in the ass

boku looks like it could be fun, but i'm not too sure it'll be all too powerful/flexible. those kinds of things never really are.
