In a surprise move, Activision and Infinity Ward announced that they have ditched efforts to produce a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in order to take the highly popular first person shooter series in a totally different direction. Modern Warfare 2 was expected to be the biggest game of 2009. We'll see how this new direction effects the series.

"We decided to go another direction," explains Mark Rubin, a producer at Infinity Ward. "We carefully studied player behavior in the Modern Warfare and World at War games and decided to expand on some of the most used player strategies. It's better to make a game focused on what players like to do most rather than just recreate the same game over and over again."

Well, I think this may be for the better. Sounds like they know what they want to do based on what players are actually doing, which is good.

I thought you were being sarcastic. It works really well read that way, since they are indeed doing that. You may as well cater to the ranters, *bleep*ing DJ's and router pauser/game exiting crowd.

As long as they don't screw up and evidently make it less attractive. I like the idea, but here's the problem I'm having with World at War ATM; The map pack just came out and I actually don't have much of an urge to play any of the maps because I'm coming around to the idea that it's very boring when everyone just uses the MP40/Thompson and kills you. It's very repetitive. Now I'm not saying CoD4 was like that, CoD4 was the REALLY addicting one that never seamed to get boring.

Edit: Actually read the article. This has got to be a *bleep*ing joke!!!

Guys, make sure to report the story http://gamegrep.com/report.php?newsid=19061 as Miscategorized. This is lie, but at the very least, should be in the "Rumors" section and should also say "Rumor" in the title, as this website seems to be the only source for this story.

This website sucks, it always has stupid joke articles like this and the rtard who posts it on gamer grep makes the description seem real and doesn't even bother to tell us its a joke, So I waste time going to read it to be pissed off because some jack ass wants to make a joke about the on-line system in cod.

    GG.

I think he gets paid to write stories that bring in traffic, which has obviously succeeded.

It's low, but it isn't the first time some little-known blog has pouted bullshit to get the attention of internet gaming news.

...After careful study, Infinity Ward discovered that the most popular form of strategic combat was actually happening outside of the normal parameters of game sessions. This behavior included strategic use of exiting the game, especially for game hosts, and timely disconnects of the network cable from the console or computer.

...and if we detect a player is doing a lot of talking but its all unintelligible garbage, we can enhance the player's tactics by having his nonsense language cause his opponent's screens to shake.
