OXCGN writer Bradley Whit takes a look at whether or not EA has made the right choice in going all Sim-like with their new Console version of the franchise, while remaining arcade style for the Wii and the On-line PC version.

Slip over there now and there's FIRST video footage of in-game action to check out while you are there.

NFS: Shift is geared towards to the sim-head, NFS: Nitro fulfills the needs of arcade lovers and NFS: World Online is an online MMO style racer where real life people can match up and compete to be king of the streets.

My attention hovers around SHIFT though, because of the audience it targets. I am a gear head myself, so seeing a game that was sim-oriented coming from an exclusive arcade line is quite interesting. It’s also on the spotlight because it’s coming out for the big systems including the PS3, Xbox 360, PSP and PC.

EA taking this game into the sim market is a totally new concept for the game, so it makes us all wonder, “Will this game be a success?” I will list out what I believe are Pros and Cons, and come up with a conclusion.

Looks very good. I knew that with a good development team behind them EA could re-invent Need for Speed into a good franchise. In game it reminds me of like Project Gotham Racing 3 as far as action goes and almost like mix between GRiD and Forza for the realism. Though the in-game trailer did try to show the game as an arcade experience obviously not to lose the gamers that cannot drive, so perhaps the game is really arching towards Gran Turismo just with a faster feel while retaining that pure epic realism.

My guess is it will suck like all the other games except Most wanted.

This isn't being made by EA, it's being published by EA another developer is making the game. That developer who's name eludes me have been making racing simulators for the last 10 years, these have not only been good gam,es but some of the best racing games ever made.
