If you think about it, the reason why Sony has been losing the console war all along is because they are managing three consoles, not two like Nintendo or one like Microsoft, THREE. True Microsoft has basically destroyed Sony and danced around their grave as some fanboys may say, but Sony has had a lot more going on then any of the competition.

When you look at the current generation it’s easy to say that between Xbox 360 and PS3, Microsoft has left Sony behind in the dust. There is however a little more to Microsoft & Sony’s success than meets the eye. Sony is successfully managing 3 consoles on the market, but if you’ve been keeping up to date with news, one console is about to be dropped from the market. Obviously, this is the PS2; though everyone could foresee this coming. Though it is still too early to decide who’s won the console war, fanboys of Microsoft are rejoicing everywhere claiming victory while they get all their good games near ending the year; whilst, Sony fanboys are fighting back clamoring to a steady line of great games. I’m sure many of you fully understand what I mean here, so I won’t need to specify myself nor do I want too.

They chose to support the PS2 after the release of the PS3. Whatever slowdowns, problems, issues and limitations arose as a result of this is their fault. And I wouldn't call the support for the PS2 sufficient post-PS3. Beyond distribution of the popular platform and God of War 2, nothing really was outstanding on their support side. Same goes for the Playstation Portable.

Nothing wrong with putting all your eggs into one basket in this instance. Microsoft operate 1 console, and do a damn good job at it.

    My opinion anyway...

      I completely agree man.

However, I think that Nintendo is doing a damn good job too.

One main system and a handheld is the way to go.

But yeah, Sony's trying to hard and failing at it...

They're actually not doing horribly bad, MS is just doing slightly better right now. Though Nintendo basically owns both of them three times over.

They aren't losing this so-called console war in my opinion. I'm enjoying the PS3 and will always enjoy it. That's a win to me.

He actually made a half decent article without spewing some shit about how sony has some double agents in MS and are planning a military coup to take control of all of the xbox exclusives or some other crazy idea he got from his "sources".

It pretty obvious why Sony couldn't focus on the PS3 100% earlier in its life, but now they can so its looking good from here on out, now all they have to do is turn a profit and they can start competing properly.

Exactly my thoughts. However, I'm not of the belief that Sony are "losing". They trailing and closing the gap. I just hate it when people say they're losing and that's all there is to it.

EDIT: this is what I'm talking about:
      quote
True Microsoft has basically destroyed Sony
      Destroyed? Seriously?

My "sources" are reliable. Like I said before, are you just being racist to people because you don't like them? In any case, that's sad.

On the other hand you are right. All they need is a profit and then they can deal damage to Microsoft and maybe earn a bigger fanbase.

I don't think he's being racist. Hiphopgamer is getting a reputation for playing on fanboys to get extra hits recently. And after seeing summaries of some of his most recent shows I have to agree.

        Racist? Racist? Lmfao.

I couldn't care if he was, white, black, Asian or whatever. How did you get the to the fact I was racist? Like I said in the earlier post, I am coloured myself, I know how bad racism can get.

I don't stoop down to such pitiful levels, so stop trying to bring racism into this. Your the one who is not looking at him as an equal for his skin here, not me.
        • 2
          HisServant77 Mar 25, 09
I think the word "racism" was being misused to simply say "You're against me, aren't you?" Sort of like how some people say "You're racist against men, aren't you?" Because they can think of no other word for it. It's a lack of vocabulary actually, which is becoming evident in many youth nowadays unfortunately. I teach teenagers and cannot go without having to define at least 3 words each time I teach (and I try to use simple words too)! Nothing against them in particular, just that they're either not being taught, or don't care to learn.

Xeros the Slayer Mar 25, 09
      From which side?

The author stated their case quite clearly as well as holding a rather neutral message. The message was basically "360 is doing good, the PS3 is behind, but once Sony gets a little focus, it will do much better."

This particular paragraph however could be misleading: Sony has managed to sale a good 255,000 for both the PS3 and PSP just in March 2009 whilst the 360 falls short a mere 52,000 units.
Since Monster Hunter Portable Unite released this month for the PSP. As well as special edition PSPs made for the series' 5th anniversary. When 2G was released last year, it sold about about 80,000 PSPs with it. Wish they'd bring that stuff out here for a change, the Monster Hunter PSPs are awesome.

Hm . . . which brings into question of, is it SONY who are "loosing," or just the PS3? Add up each company's systems (all their current systems) and I'm sure things would be much different.

Which is why Sony still supports supposedly "old" systems, because they are selling. And after all . . . that IS what a company seeks to do!
    • 0
      Shattered Mar 25, 09
Explain how. Honestly just saying it's a fanboy article and not even backing up your statement is stupid.
  • 0
    Storm Mar 25, 09
Hm, never thought of it that way. Still, how much support is the PS2 getting anymore? It's sales did well after PS3's release, which is the major reason why Sony chose to keep it going, now it's just lingering with a few multiplatform titles here and there. I'm happy to see the support, but as this article touches on, Sony should get their act together.

PSP's been going downhill in a sense, I believe even a Sony rep addressed that? They really should back it up more...I mean, there's nothing they can do against Nintendo's handheld market at this point, many fans are behind that company with good reason, but Sony could still make the PSP look more worthy.

Console War.I'm sick of hearing that crap.

What freaking war? You don't hear people say there's a *insert two team names* war whenever two teams face each other in sport.

The console wars are just a figment of childish idiots imaginations.

    Competition? Yes. A war? No.

I don't go around killing people because they like a different console. So there's no damn war.

Is losing being only 6 million sales off of the Xbox 360 when the 360 had a year headstart. People need to stop looking only at sales figures and use some logic, a console at 22 million sales in 2 years in comparison to a console at 28 million in 3 years? Which one is really losing here, it's certainly not the PlayStation 3. On face value it is losing but people don't seem to use their brains when computing this so called console war.

To the idiot with the id Shattered, shut up. Throwing out the racist term completely out of context makes you appear how you are, an idiot. Quotes such as MS has completely destroyed Sony backs up the tilt of the article favoring MS, which most articles depicting the PS3 as being destroyed in the console war do. Since both consoles are fighting for second place these articles have always seemed ridiculous. I don't remember the Sony nation beating the war-drum last gen when the PS2 was obviously outperforming the Xbox in sales. That was a far sounder victory in any case, but this gen has gotten ridiculous.

The real problem I believe is that the high price of current gen consoles has lead to consumers having to rabidly defend their purchases with their keyboards and blog sites. Both systems hopefully will do well enough to stay in the game, for the sake of the older generation of gamers everywhere. We need to see the PS3 close the sales gap, and then we can continue to have each company keep the other honest. Complete destruction of Sony, no. Xbox currently ahead, yes. The future, still up in the air. And Nintendo will still be laughing all the way to the bank.

I think all this articles will make Sony end up as a very tragic story that will be named "The rise & fall of Sony". Just shut up and let them do their business, those articles are just plain annoying because they repeat theirselves, i think Sony got the message the first or second article that was discussing this "issue", now leave them the heck alone.

Not announced, rumored. But I can imagine it'll happen anyway; so many sites have "rumored" it.

Even so, I don't see how $399 is too much. A 360 Elite is about the same, if not more when adding in peripherals.

Seriously why are people still yarpping on about the PS3 price? I checked and, to buy an XBOX Elite with a wireless adapter, Battery pack, Xbox live. Basically all the things the PS3 has from the start. I might even count the HD-DVD player. The xBox ends up costing nearly a hundred more
    • 0
      carouselambra Mar 26, 09
Too little too late man, when I heard about the ps3 yeh, two things made me go off the idea; first one the price, secondly that it apparently is not backwards compatible; (i dont know if the second one is true, I've heard mixed reposrts about people playing ps1/2 games on it with differing levels of success; but point being I'm not interested enough to go and find out). It was a dissapointment man; it felt like something created exclusively for the "noveau riche" and their gold dust swimming pools A lot of people felt like that I think; the stigma attached to it never died out. Whereas the X-box is a working man's system.
  • 0
    HisServant77 Mar 26, 09
People cannot possibly still be playing the price card on the PS3 . . . seriously. It's old and dead.

Honestly, price is kinda like weather. It doesn't exactly keep many people from going to the store and buying what they want. If it does, then they don't want it all that much.
    • 0
      carouselambra Mar 26, 09
It's stigma man, stigma. People who couldnt afford it, will not go and buy it now, simply because they feel it was something not made for them; so they no longer want it as a result. My nan would slap me if I'd ever paid that much for a game. The general populace dont like being talked down to; or looked down on. So again; marketing a ps3 that has a considerable price cut; but in actual fact has a lot of the features removed, will not play well to them. I know it's "only" games; but generally speaking the average human being has more pride than that.

A price cut means a actual drop of price for the same product. What your talking about there is a cheaper SKU.
        • 0
          carouselambra Mar 26, 09
Yeh but my point being; the stigma still exists. The cheaper system only fuels that. It's all politics man.

          Bale Fire* Mar 26, 09
True the PS3 will always have that 'High priced' mentality about it, but that could be a good thing. When people see the PS3 (the so elite and flashy console that it was too expensive to afford) standing a hundred dollars under the 360s price sitting just to its left its going to spur sales
  • 0
    brett108 Mar 26, 09
Price will not keep gamers from buying a console. Price keeps parents and relatives who know little to nothing about gaming from buying the PS3 for their kids.

No self-respecting gamer would be caught with a 360 Arcade, due to the lack of all the functionality. When you compare the apples to something closer to an apple(the 360 Pro) price is very comparable, and then you just have to weigh the extra features(the most important in my mind is a rechargeable controller. Damn you MS!!)
