That Gaming Site re-examines Killzone 2 one month after release. Now that the hype has died down, TGS wants to know if Killzone really is a Killer Sony Exclusive or just another victim of the hype machine.

30 days ago Sony released Killzone 2, one of the most anticipated titles in the history of the PS3. Preceding Killzone’s release date anticipation was boiling. Sony shooter fans worldwide were literally chomping at the bit to get their hands on a true “killer game” that would define the PS3’s capabilities. With a month’s worth of gameplay open to the public, is Killzone 2 living up to hype and the expectations of the video game world? Is Killzone 2 an exclusive worth bragging about or another run of the mill shooter with a shiny visual front? Do servers hold up? Are multi-player matches easy to find? Is the community robust, competitive and healthy?

Its a good FPS. Definitely one of the better ones over the few years.

Doesn't do anything new, but how many games really do in this day and age? Hadley any. It does what is says on the tin, and it does it well.

Would have been better if the article was an actual re review, not just saying "multi-player is populated", in that aspect this article is a bit of a joke.

Does have to be a success or a failure?

Can't it just be a good game without being titled 'a Halo Killer' or 'an Abomination to the FPS genre'

No, fanboys and this whole "console war' will never let us just enjoy games

I'm still wondering...why Killzone 1 was actually deemed either "shit" or "below average", when in fact both games have the same gameplay (give or take a few features like secondary fire or the knife). Suddenly Killzone 2 made it 10x better with graphics alone? Especially considering how Killzone 1 had a much better campaign and whatnot.

It's because Guerilla stated that Killzone 1 was a Halo Killer, reviewers at the time didn't like the idea of that. At that point it was a given that every review was going to be extremely harsh towards what was infact a solid shooter, Killzone 2 is just an extension of that which is why Killzone 2 is so good and why Sony bought Guerilla after Killzone 1 because they knew the game was awesome.

They never did that. There's not an article out there that I've ever seen that claims that Guerrilla Games ever even called it that. Looking at the news WAY before it was even called Killzone, the hype originated from the Official UK PS2 Magazine that called it (and I quote) "the single best videogame the team has ever seen". Ever since that, rumors and speculations had everyone going nuts.

The game literally fell victim to the proverbial "Halo killer" bandwagon and TO THIS DAY, there's STILL people going at it for no good reason. It obviously wasn't perfect, but it sure as hell wasn't the abysmal game that everyone tried to make it seem.

Killzone 2 is a great game. I love the multiplayer but I've barely touched the single player campaign.

I still haven't picked it up. Looking at Amazon's new game trade-in thing though, I might be getting it for free soon.
