It has already been five months since Sony opened up the PlayStation Home Beta to the public. While Sony promised that Home would change the way people interact in games, so far all the service has done is nickel and dime gullible people into buying Blanka's hair.

The other day, I powered up my PlayStation 3 and noticed something rather peculiar. Located directly above the PlayStation Store icon on the XMB was an emblem representing an intense, repressed hatred I felt some five months ago. Seeing it sent chills up my spine. It evoked veiled feelings of apathy and boredom that had eaten away at my very soul. Feelings that had corroded my mind and tarnished my faith in the PlayStation brand.

It was the icon for the PlayStation Home Beta.

Why the hell hadn’t I deleted this thing?

Getting so explicitly angry about a free, virtual networking service on a games console only tells me that this guy really does have nothing better to do with his life.

I'm left wondering why I haven't deleted it yet, too.

I've never seen so much hatred for a beta before

It's basically a nicer looking Habbo Hotel.

There. I summed up what this guy was trying to say in one short sentence and I didn't pop a vein doing it.

How can you slag off a free service so? Fair enough if it was priced or even had a subscription slapped on it, but a BETA? gosh, some people...

Dude could have went with the bandwagon months ago and wrote up this little blog rant. As it stands today, he's just late to the party, and sounds like he just has nothing better to do.

This is the return of his hate for Home. He tried it then, and is re-trying it now (it was supposed to be improved by now, right?)

Ah, so he really does have nothing else to do then. Well, I'm not here to defend Home or to take anyone's side, and honestly, I haven't used Home in months because the content and features just don't warrant my time. However, I think it's quite clear that earlier in it's life, it was all about server-side maintenance and netcode. Now, they have begun adding the actual content. I think they're moving in the right direction, but this guy's M.O is old.

I rather like HOME as another means of communicating with the PS3 community. Afterall, that is indeed what it is. And nickle and diming people? Hadn't happened to me, since I've not bought any clothes or furniture

The issue is, this thing was released months ago. Shouldn't some improvements have been made by now?

Have you actually used the service in the last 3 months? If not i suggest you use it first before asking such a stupid question. The service is improving steadily overtime and as time goes on it becomes apparent that Home may take several years to perfect, but that is perfect for Sony as they will be looking to roll out every PS4 with Home as standard and by then it'll be ready and should hopefully be a much more seamless service.

I wish FinalBlade would come back and answer your question. He was all about HOME, he would've known .

I haven't used HOME in ages. Must check it out again though, what with all the new additions and everything.

I logged onto HOME the other day, and looked about the new areas. I especially like the new Special Events area with all the tables and such; it allowed people to really get into conversation. Sony never said Home was supposed to be a fully fledged competitive video game; somehow people got that impression and are expecting minigames EVERYWHERE. Sony set out to make an application that brings gamers together; in my experiences, they've more than accomplished that.
