Electronic Theatre offers a decisive view of the Wii's position in the North American market, courtesy of William Usher of Blend Games. Cites the poor sales of third-party products as reflective of the gamers attitude towards the system.

While Wii may be selling faster than tickets to an all boy choir being sold at a Catholic parish, the games have received very little fanfare on the review front. Outside of the occasional mini-game compilation and first-party titles, Wii has struggled greatly in North America to establish any sort of strong sales figures for third-party games that measure up to the console's install base. Hardcore and casual third-party exclusive titles for the Wii fall very flat in comparison to the PLAYSTATION3 and Xbox360 third-party exclusives, such as Resident Evil 5, F.E.A.R. 2 or Wanted: Weapons of Fate, which have fairly strong numbers for Sony and Microsoft's console.

The data is there, what harcore game on the wii has sold the equivalent copies to Wii fit? None, Therefore the article is right about hardcore 3rd party games not selling as much in comparison to the install base of the wii as the PS3 or 360.

I'm pointing at some of the games brought up in the article, where numbers are not available yet for them, aside from early numbers that have not been made public. While I generally agree with the base conjecture, calling the sales of those games poor without available credible data is suspect.

But then again, what game has sold as much as comparison to Wii Fit, period? Even if you combine GTAIV, it still doesn't pass Wii Fit.

More consoles = more potential sales. That's just being logical.

          Of course.

At any rate, HD install-base leads Wii install-base by around 3 million in the US as of right now.

90% of the foundation of the console is the definition of a fad. What do people expect?
