I Was Raped by Capcom

Angry-Gamers.net takes a look at how Capcom managed to turn a great game into a horrible disappointment and how Capcom has surpassed EA and Activision as one of the worst game developers around.

On Saturday April 4th and again on Sunday April 5th I went through one of the worst moments of my life. I was raped. Capcom Entertainment through their abomination of a game, Resident Evil 5.

      Well, one of his complaints was that Capcom is making players pay for content already on the CD, not that he just "didn't like it": in which case I agree, that DOES make them worse than EA.

    I agree though, they turned a good survival horror into an American style, "shoot lots of badguys" series. I don't care what people say, shambling zombies > angry people. Also Capcom aren't bad developers so to speak, Monster Hunter and other games made by them are fantastic. They just made some shoddy choices along the way, including the whole paying for what's already on the disk. Wtf is up with that. :\

    The game type in itself wasnt, just the levels and characters. Which is really like complaining that the monster hunter event quests dont use new maps.

    In my opinion the thing wrong with RE5 is that even in terms of an action title, it is still seriously lacking! The control scheme was sometimes a little tedious and halted whatever pace I had going, and there was not a whole lot of difficulty in the game at all! They failed to take that next step to display their title on the next generation of consoles.

    What I still do not understand to this day is that why they did not have the best of both worlds and reinvent their camera angles WHILST keeping the horror elements intact. We could have had this entire new control scheme, and camera angle, and still be subject to old school franchise elements. To me the Resident Evil series is dead and buried; I will not be buying any such sequel or spin-off in the series because of the execution of Resident Evil 5. The ending and plot development (what little there actually was) was poor. Each to their own I guess.

    One bad game makes them worse than other companies such as EA? That's a rather hasty jump to make regardless of how bad RE5 is.

    EA are good publishers in my books, FIFA 09 is arguably the best football game ever made and its purely down to EA building little by little each year with strong foundations.

    It seems that's the way so many games are going: the more unique elements are being taken out, and they everything is just turning into a straight-forward action game.

    Examples: Rainbow Six Las Vegas (Rainbow Six + regenerating health, minus the tactics), Fallout 3 (Fallout plus FPS, minus a lot of the RPG), R.E.V (R.E plus quicktime events, minus the survival horror), etc etc.

      Wright admitted Spore was watered down, too. I assume it's what people want, I dont know. Some days Im surprised games like Mirrors Edge exist at all.

    Resident evil 5 may not have been like the old resident evils but it was good still in its own way. I enjoyed playing through it so much that I got all the chievements and got an A rank in every mercenaries map. EA aren't even that bad anymore dead space and mirrors edge were awesome and so is skate. If he was gunna compare it to a bad company why not ubisoft? I'd rather pay for content already on the disk than play a poorly built game by ubisoft because they're too lazy to finish it.
