The Nintendo Wii is full of potential with innovative controls that have even caught the eye of hardcore gamers, but the Wii has fallen short of that potential. There have been few games other than Wii Sports that have really become successful based on the control scheme.

But all that may change this summer when the Wii MotionPlus is released. Along with a highly anticipated sequel to Wii Sports, gamers will also be able to look forward to games like Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods 10, both of which will make use of the MotionPlus.

Might as well buy Wii Sports Resort just to try it out. If it's good, then I'll just buy more of it. If not, then oh well.

You know... the funny thing is I bought a Wii for my son and he hasn't played it in almost 2 months now. Just keeps going back to the PS2. It is kind of weird really.

I'm starting to wonder if it is even worth the effort anymore. If a 6 year old finds the thing boring somethings wrong.

I'm going to have to assume that your acctually buying games to fuel your sons interest in the Wii.

No good wasting the money on games unless the kid shows some interest. 6 year olds are easily amused, after all. Hell, my younger sister has been playing Mario Kart Wii and only Mario Kart Wii since we got the game about 4 or 5 months ago.

He has about 7 games to pick from right now. In cluding Mario Galaxy, Mario Baseball Lego Indiana Jones, and some Spongebob title. More than enough. I know when I was his age I was happy with one new game every 6 months. He has had 7 new games since we bought the thing in October.

You know what he is playing right now? Final Fantasy X. He can barely read, the controls are still a bit beyond him, yet that's what he wants to play. Ok so there are 30 titles available for the PS2 here but he can only play about half of them because i won't let him play anything above a T and many of them are a bit over his head. But given the choice he keeps picking PS2 games. Even ones he has played to death like Burnout.

There's enough games out already that it shouldn't be that dusty, between retail, WiiWare, and Virtual Console.

I have yet to find something that tells me what this thing is exactly. Is it basically just a thing you stick on your controller and the hardware/software inside it is more advanced/sensitive than existing motion sensors? Not a Wii follower here.

It basicly makes the game mimic your motions completly, while previous games would only register certain movments of the Wii Remote, such as forwards, backwarks, up, down, left, right, etc.

Though there is already software being made that limits this technology to make it usable in most games. So in theory we'll still be doing the same pointless gestures most of the time.

Anyone else think this should have been available from the start? And now they claim they have 'reinvented the wheel'?

I don't care for the Wii to begin with, but I just feel depressed as a fellow consumer when a gimmick like this boosts sales.

It should have been included, the technology was around but Nintendo said it was too expensive to include in the controllers, so now Nintendo wants the 50+ million people that have purchased Wiis plus the 1 to 3 extra controllers people have also purchased, to pay $20 to upgrade their controllers. You can probably understand their strategy, it's the same as with almost all companies it's all about the $$$$$$.

Good point I guess, but most reviewers treat it like a masterpiece.

When you compare it to the rest of the "wii" crew, it IS a masterpiece.
