Binge Gamer's Perry Piekarski has a dream, that one day gamers will rise up and live out the true meaning of what it is to be a gamer. To shed aside this blind, rabid fanboyism and realize that all consoles have their good points, as well as their bad.

I hope you realize that not for one second am I saying, “I’m not an Xbot, man. Xbox is teh ghey. PS3 rules, baby!” I respect the Xbox almost as much as I respect Sony, and I actually hope to nab one for myself sometime in the near future. The Xbox 360 is a solid platform with tons of exclusives that I’d love to add to my ever-growing collection of games (e.g. Beautiful Katamari, Star Ocean 4, Lost Planet 2, working versions of the Orange Box and Fallout 3, etc.). But just like the PS3 and the Wii, it’s not without its set of flaws (and believe me when I say it has plenty).

That’s the other thing—if a company makes a better product or offers a product I want, that’s the one I’m going to get. Why sell myself to senseless brand loyalty? Taking the time to research a product before buying has always worked in my favor. Then I get what I need rather than settling for something because of a name.

And did you know that it is completely acceptable to own multiple consoles? That’s right—you can have an Xbox 360, a PS3, and a Wii in the same room together, and it won’t tear a hole in the spacetime continuum or nothin’. Knock yourself out kids. Go play all the games you’ve always wanted to play.

The sad part about being a fan of gaming, is it seems people always feel the need to choose a side, rather than enjoy the games themselves, they get too caught up in console wars.

With that being said, Sony needs to lower the price of the PS3 even though they are history! And when is Wii going to get some games! (sarcasm)

Also, the Home Beta sucks (not sarcasm)

Amusing ariticle I just remembered being put on Grep Fanboys and Flame Wars good for Gaming - The Answer Yes

I like this article. Indeed, when will people learn to just enjoy the games. You don't have to choose sides or become so loyal to a brand name itself.

Maybe it's how competitive many gamers are . . . they take their competitive nature into the real world and figure "Hmm . . . how can I create some enemies to compete with? OH! I know, anyone who does not strictly buy and devote their complete gaming lives to this company, is my enemy and I can beat him/her DOWN!"

I think most of it actually stems from the companies themselves. They instigate this kind of stuff all the time..EA's Peter Moore (formerly president of Sega of America) even once said it's good for them business-wise. Peace isn't as profitable, as with real wars.

It is true, I do believe at times that the companies act like wrestlers. It's a big act for their fans. But then we have to put up with the results

He's got a good point. THose rabid 'PS3 Is teh SHITE!' guys are just as gay as the 'Xbox is the most flawless machine ever' morons. But both are outclassed by those few who think the Wii is better than both put together, with a date with Jessica Alba thrown in. I'd like a Ps3, hell, I'd Love it. MGS4, Killzone 2 and Valkyria Chronicles are all games I wish to play. But I am somewhat of a fanboy, for Both Sony and MS. As I hate nintendo, I can't stand them anymore.

I think this has pretty much settled that fanboy haters are worse than fanboys themselves.

Anti-Gaming Manifesto =/= Fanboys Killing the Gaming Industry.

The first is a manifesto(public declaration), the second sounds as if fanboys are the ones sucking the money away and destroying the games industry.

Fanboys are not killing the games industry. They may harm it to a degree, but not to the point of catastrophe.

When it gets down to it man, I wouldnt say it's killing the gaming industry. For every X-box obsessed pre-pubescent grease-magnet, there's a PS3 crazed tub of lard to match it. It's the natural balance man. Lions hunt gazelles, wolves stalk deer, ant-eaters eat ants or so I hear, just so happens the X-box and Ps3 are hunted by gamers. Or the other way around perhaps. Like it or not humanity is still a part of nature you know

I personally think those who get so angry over thinking their console is best are the ones in the wrong. Rather than just have fun, they have to lash at people who think xxx system is better than theirs and treat the whole thing like a goddamn war.
