New Challenger: 3 Reasons Why Gaming Will Destroy Itself Part 1
10 hours 38 mins ago
So, the Assassin's Creed II teaser site launched recently, but something at least most of us didn't seem to pick up on is Ubisoft rating its own promotional campaign contained there, 18+, no less, this after censoring a Da Vinci classic.
Interesting to note is Google's "Strict SafeSearch" doesn't censor anything.
So this is the state of maturity in the games industry? You insist on rating even your “viral” advertising 18+ (the highest age rating that I know of) and then you still feel the need to deface a classic work of art to make sure that your “mature” audience is not confronted with seeing a penis? I’m shocked!
Here’s the missing piece...
It’s beautiful!
Thank you.

Please, even kids see more graphic renderings of dicks in the bathroom stalls at school. I understand wanting to avoid a lawsuit, but if anyone got their shorts in a knot over this, they're sorely close-minded. Might as well never take your kids to a museum or let them open a history book.
Second . . . what's the big deal? Maybe they didn't feel like having a painting with a guy's junk on their website? Yeah it's historical and yeah it's a slight way of censorship, but who cares? Are people that interested in seeing nudity? What next? Do they want to animal genitalia on every toy and every animal or creature in video games?
Can't anyone just take things in stride and figure "Big deal" with these small decisions and such? I'd understand making a big deal out of an actual big deal though, but this isn't one of them.
EDITED:
Also, yeah I'm "mature" enough to view such a picture, but it doesn't mean that I NEED to or even WANT to view it any chance I get! I can handle a punch in the face, but it doesn't mean I want to get punched in the face any time someone has a chance to do so. Maturity isn't about doing what you able to do, but rather doing what is necessary. What's the saying? "Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should"
It's not like Da Vinci's work is pornographic -- it's scientific anatomy, or art. Hell, it stems from the age of enlightenment.
We regularly see more "pointless" things on GameGrep. At least it's interesting, and probably not on other sites, hm? ;P
(And for the last part . . . I know, I wasn't speaking of the article being on GG, but just . . . why is there an article to begin with?! Can I start writing about anything and everything, even utterly pointless things and post them on GG too, and get lots of views?)
Yes you can.
