The Super Secret Seattle Sony Press Event convinced me to buy a PlayStation 3

Something is up. A game reviewer who went to the "super secret sony press event" says that what he heard there apparently convinced him to get a PS3. While he says he can tell us why yet, a few hints in his article state that there are going to be some games coming out down the road which might tickle the fancy, especially those who are currently in the PS3 exclusive camp.

Earlier this week I attended a two day long super secret Sony press event over in Seattle. After I got back to Kitsap I headed right to the store and purchased an 80-gigglebyte PlayStation 3 and a copy of Little Big Planet. I can't say what I saw yet but it made me want to go buy a PS3.

It was hands down the most money I have ever spent on videogames at one time. After sales tax it worked out to $499. It is still cheaper than getting a gaming PC but not by much. I don't see there being much chance of a significant price drop at E3 besides there are games I want to play before then.

I'll probably get cross platform games for the Xbox 360 but there is a bunch of PS3 only games that I want to play. I might want to get Brutal Legend and King of Fighter XII on PS3.

    Hmm..I wonder if its the same game the BBC reporter saw. Its probably GOW3, I can't really see anyother game that owuld make a person go out and get one. I mean the game probably looks so much more badass oppossed to what we have seen.

    Its was GOWIII and the fact that the PS3 is gonna drop to $299 by the end of the year. I'd bet my life on it.

      To add to what Sleeping Dragon said, GoW3 comes out after the price-drop, so if it was that then shouldn't he have waited and then got it for cheaper?

        He did mention in his article the reason he got it now was because he also wanted to play a few games that heard about (namley LBP) and for work.

          That seems... well, Rtarded. If he's getting it for this one super special awesome game, why not wait 'til the price drop? To play the other games beforehand is stupid because if he really wanted to play them, enough to make him get one, he would have done it beforehand. If he just wanted to try them out then why not wait until the console, and the games, are cheaper?

          Again, because he said he wanted a chance to play them earlier, but before wasn't convinced enough to buy a PS3 untill he saw that "secret"

          Again, there's a price-drop later this year. Why pay now when the 'secret' is coming out after the price-drop, AND the games would be much cheaper then anyway. I'm not saying he didn't do it, I'm saying that if he did, he did something very stupid.

          There reason some people buy a product earlier is because they get a chance to play a game earlier. I mean yeah the games will still be there, but by then even more games will be out. Good luck playing a handfull of good games at the same time while everybody is already playing the newest games.

          While I don't believe now that he heard of the price drop (you've convinced me, sure), I still firmly believe that the price drop will happen in Q4 of this year.

    well if GOW3 was the only reason to get a PS3 then it fails in my opinion. I've no interest in that game. Maybe I'm just plain wierd but it seems like all these "console-seller" games hold absolutely NO interest for me.

    Ah well . . . good thing I already have a PS3 and need no convincing.
