The Marvel vs. Capcom 2 demo just came out this week, and fans of the first game rushed to their consoles to download it... only to be extremely disappointed. Why? Well, it's only a 1 vs. 1 demo. You can't play against the computer either, you need to have a second controller in order to play. What if you don't have a second controller to play? Deal with it.

Or, what if you do have a second controller but no sibiling or friend to play with? Well, you're stuck playing against a dummy that doesn't move or fight back. Sounds like fun, right?

Marvel Vs Capcom 2, the highly anticipated demo that released today exclusively on the PSN. This by far has to be one of the worst demos that I have ever played in a while and I’ll give you my reasons in this brief review.

The game was announced a week ago which was good news, leading up to a demo that has came out today which is even better news. Once I heard the demo was up, I rushed home to play it to find out that I have to play with two people. That’s right; I need two controllers to play other wise I can’t play the game. There is no playing against computer or anything, just 1 Vs 1. There are two problems with this and I’ll list them below.

1) What if you only have one controller? How will you be able to play the demo when you need two controllers connected to play?

2) What if you have two controllers and no brother or any other sibling to play with? Then you’d be stuck playing with a dummy.

Good thing I wasn't waiting for this...well I never even heard of it.

But that really sounds like a load of crap. What were the makers thinking?

The demo was soooo bad, definately put me off of the full version.

Pretty poor reason not to play the game, considering everyone you ask will tell you how massively different the full game is from the demo.

The whole point of the Demo is to give the consumers a view of WHAT the full game is supposed to be. Being put off from the game by the demo is far from a 'poor reason'.

If the full game is indeed 'massively' different from the demo then that's Capcom's mistake of making the demo so shite that it puts people off the Game. I've played plenty of demo's that were crap. Other people have liked the game, but it doesn't necessarily mean that I will, so if I think the Demo is shite (or it puts me off the full version) then chances are the full version will do the same...

You apparently don't understand the aspect of "Ask anyone and they'll tell you how massively different it is from the real game". He has the knowledge of how the demo compares to the real game, yet still uses the demo as some sort of reason not to buy it. THAT is a poor reason.

Because the developers produce demo's to entice demo's.

If no one ever used a demo for a basis of buying the game then developers wouldn't release demo's.

Damn, that is really bad. In most fighting games dummies have a 'fight back' setting. Not cool, Capcom..

It definately sucked, but I got over it pretty fast. At least they didn't charge for the demo, it was free, we shouldn't expect everything from it.

Who charges for demo's? Who would even pay for a demo?(on its own)

Exactly, demos are free, so don't expect much from it. It offers a game mode and a few characters. It may suck that it's local multiplayer only, but it's free.

          I guess so.

But a demo is supposed to entice buyers, the developers should AIM to make a demo enjoyable to play. The very fact that it sucks is a stupid move on capcoms part. It just doesn't give a good impression, even if its not the full game.

Have you ever heard of 'Final Fantasy XIII'? It had a demo that cost pretty much $10....

Well guess I will just delete the demo then......no sense in having one I can't play.

Hopefully the Xbox Live Arcade demo will differ when it's made available. I'm assuming there's currently no demo for the Xbox 360 release since each Xbox Live Arcade trial uses the same file as the full game.

The MVC2 demo was exclusive to the PSN because of the deal with PSN that Capcom made. Just like some Capcom game stuff is exclusive to the 360. Nothing special.

You know . . . I don't see why everyone is so upset about it though. I mean, I can understand, but when the Demo was announced, it was also said that it would be multiplayer, 1 on 1 with a person sitting on the couch or the same room with you. So . . . how can anyone be upset and claim it as the worst demo ever, when this should have been expected!

It'd be the same as buying a bunch of rocks, getting home, and complaining because your rocks just sit there and . . . are rocks!

Meh. I won't be getting this anyway. There are better next gen fighters out there.
    • 3
      Storm May 2, 09
This isn't a next-gen fighter in the first place. The game came out several years ago, and it's one of the most renowned 2D-fighting crossover game.

        Existence May 3, 09
Yes, I know it came out years ago- guess I didn't phrase that nicely, I meant that there are better fighters out there, which belong to next gen, if you get me.

Yeah, I know this wasn't phrased properly, either.

I agree MvC2 was the bomb when it first came out, but I really don't see the appeal of playing a graphically upgraded version when there are really good 3D fighters out there.
