EA broke tradition by using two athletes on their new Madden cover for 2010. This move is great for them, not only because having two athletes means twice the free media exposure, but because Troy Polamalu is one of them. Ever heard of Madden Curse? Well, without a fantasy football degree I can tell you that Polamalu is one of the more injury prone players in the NFL, and that only bodes well for EA...

EA did an ingenious move here by splitting face(mask) space on the cover.

Two athletes means twice the coverage (on a local and national level) and publicity for the players, teams, and cities of the team, and hence, twice the exposure and brand imaging for the Madden franchise. Secondly, EA picked TROY POLAMALU to appear opposite Larry Fitzgerald, which is fair considering they represent the past Superbowl teams, and ingenious because Polamalu, while an outstanding Safety, is one of the most injury prone players in the league (missed 8 games over the last 3 seasons). That means when he goes down next season, "Madden Curse" mania will be all over the media and EA will get more free advertising through media exposure.

Or he won't go down and the curse will be beat. It's a win-win.

Or the curse will make him injury free this year, only to be injured badly next year.

The curse cannot be outsmarted. They thought they were breaking the curse by putting Favre on the cover last year, and look what happened. He made a terrible decision and went to the Jets, where after having an outstanding start, they went in a downward spiral in the second half of the season.

Favre should've just stayed retired, tbh.[/Packer fan]

But the curse is that it affects the player in the season for which they are in the cover for. It doesn't matter if they get injured badly in the year following unless they also feature on the Madden cover again the next year.

Up to this point. Drastic times call for drastic measures, and who knows that the curse will do when faced with a challenge?

Just as long as Big Ben and his ugly ass isn't on there, I'm fine.

Damn, missing 8 NFL games out of 48 over 3 years makes him injury prone?
