The Best Music in Shooters

Nothing But Shooters compiles some of the best music found in shooting games. Pieces selected are from the Gears of War and Call of Duty series, to name a few.

Music in video games is an integral and important part of our playing experience. Game composers are world class musicians, although their contributions to the industry can be, at times, undervalued compared to other elements.

    No picks from Halo or Metroid Prime series? I'm in shock.
    The music in them is probably the best of any of the games I've played, It just fits and works perfectly for the games.

      Yeah, I figured people would be baffled over that. =)

      That's the thing with these lists though, we all won't agree on everything - because for me, Gears 1 has the best music I've heard - I just love it. I did my best to go with honest, personal choices... I'm not trying to knock Halo or anything.

        No problem, music is probably one of the hardest things to do as a top list, because music taste widely vary from person to person. And your never going to please the majority of people with top lists, but Halo and Metriod are just my opinion of the best shooter music, though I've heard other people say so also.

      I really dig the music from Halo as well. Made quite an impression on me. And personally, Gears 2 more than Gears 1.

    I think metroid prime and metriod prime 3 had some of the best music, i mean the tundra music was immence, in the more hectic shooters i tend to turn the SFX up and listen to my own music over the top. I also think P.N.03 had good music it was simple yet effective.

    Since we're all shooting stuff out there, Welcome to Rapture is one of my favorite game related songs of all time. Cohen's Masterpiece is also pretty cool, but it's kind of a love it or hate it song. But yeah, I love BioShock's soundtrack and I'm struggling to think of a single I've ever liked more than Welcome to Rapture.

    Off the top of my head, best music has to go to Space Invaders Extreme or Rez.

    This was a cool piece, and very good job incorporating all of the sound clips. I haven't played GoldenEye in so long that I forgot how cool that Chemical Warfare Facility theme was. Good stuff man. I also can't argue with your logic that Halo is almost indisputable on such a list, so bringing some lesser-known or not as well-represented titles to the forefront was a good call.
