When it comes to exclusivity, there are many factors that determine its existence. For example, how much money does the console company throw at the publisher? What is the installed base of that console? and what is the attach rate for that console? If this actually happens, Microsoft will own Christmas of 2009.

Despite the fact that many gamers will violently oppose this article, there is a very good chance that what they fear most might actually take place. I believe that Modern Warfare 2 might be coming to the Xbox 360 exclusively, and my reasons for stating that are as follow:

some of those reasons are logical, but i still doubt in the end it will be exclusive. the very most i would say would be a timed exclusive to be released on PS3 later but even that might be pushing it. i really doubt Sony would let this one go to MS (and they would be stupid to do so), especially since theyve let so many other things go either as timed exclusives to MS or lost their own exclusivity and their fans are getting really pissed about it.

When more than half our PS3 exclusives end up sucking and our multiplat games always get shafted for DLC, Sony had better not let MW2 go.

Though it figures this is from Samo...

This is from Activision. The people that release every one of their games to every console known to man. They don't do exclusive.

I remember Activision saying a couple months ago that they wanted MW2 to be the best-selling game of all time.

There's no way in hell you can do that by making it a 360 exclusive.

To everyone that commented, I thank you for your feedback. Furthermore, I need to make one thing clear, any game will sell more copies if released on multiple platforms. However, I am mainly talking about a timed-exclusive. It would make sense, especially when you consider that three months would be more than enough to give Microsoft’s hardware sales a boost. Having it as an exclusive for some time means that if gamers want this game bad enough, they will have to buy the Xbox 360. That is the whole idea behind exclusives. It is to drive hardware sales.

It is not a bad deal for Activision. After all Microsoft will be paying for the 3 months, so Activision wouldn’t feel so bad regarding the lost PS3 opportunity in the Fall. It is possible, and just after three short months, activision can go back to freely selling the title to PS3 gamers, and make no mistake, it will sell on the PS3 despite the three month delay. It’s a good deal for both companies.

Lastly, once again, thank you for your comments. I miss having a healthy, clean, and mature discussion.

    God Bless You All

I dunno, I don't think GTA IV broke sale records by making itself a timed exclusive. They CAN, however, take Rockstar's/Bethesda's strategy of making timed/ exclusive DLC. Activision gets the best of both worlds.

Microsoft should have bought Bizarre Creations or another studio(BioWare,FASA or Bungie ...) if they had the money rather than overpay for timed exclusivity. Since Activision is the new owner of Bizarre Creations , even "Project Gotham Racing" won't be an XBOX360 timed exclusive.

Unless if Microsoft pays a ton of money for, Activision is going to lose A LOT of sales. Besides, Activision hasn't released one console exclusive yet, have they?

Don't fool yourself, this game will show up on the DS, PSP, Wii, PS2, iphone, ipod, PSX, Gamecube, Super Nintendo, XBOX, PSN, Live, Sega Genesis, Commodore 64......and whatever else Activision can find a place to stick it. That's who they are, and that's what they do.

Activision are more likely to have it for the Iphone and Nokia Ngage before they have it exclusive on the 360. They are aiming for a title surpassing the huge successes of the first, and no amount of marketing and bullshit fodder on their part will help achieve this on the 360 alone.

This trailer was released on PSN today. XBOX 360 exclusive prediction is a no go.
