TheGamerAccess.com explains the problems fanboys cause and why fanboy wars are pointless. They also explain why they are afraid of competition which is the most important factor in the video game industry.

I’m confident that many people can agree with me when I make this statement. This generation of consoles has gotten quite ugly. For whatever reason, the dispute of which company has the better system between Microsoft and Sony has been going back and forth for quite some time now, and honestly it doesn’t seem as if things will smooth out any time soon. It’s one thing to have an intelligent debate with another person, presenting facts and supporting your reasoning as to why you believe a particular system is better, but when that conversation turns into a heated argument with practically no sense of intelligence, a lack of factual evidence, or a complete disregard of accepting some truths that may contradict some beliefs, then that conversation has downgraded to nothing but a bunch of fanboy banter that is, for the most part, unable to be rectified.

I agree, fanboyism has gone way out of hand this generation. Last generation is was more of a joke among friends, you know. But it would just be "Yeah your console sucks" and make up funny names for them, but then you'd laugh and play games with them on their console. You'd admit they have good games and all that because you only meant those things as a joke.

At least it was like that with the ones I knew. But now, it's a monster that ruins gaming.

You couldn't have worded that more perfectly.

On a lighter note, some of their comments reek of stupidity and result in sheer comedy.

And Final Fantasy XIII becoming multiplatform had to have been the funniest time ever to be on a forum or gaming community. Internet Rage is comical.
