Ecks of The Gaming Dungeon takes a look at Project Natal and the unwarranted optimism many gamers have about this device. He believes that while it's a well-made and interesting peripheral; it's not going to change gaming.

It’s all I hear about from Microsoft fans these days. “Natal is going to change gaming”, “Natal is revolutionary”, “Natal is going to make everything different”, and of the more ridiculous, “We are one step closer to VR gaming.” Now before I start, I am not bashing Natal in itself. Natal is a neat little piece of technology, I just want to bring people down to Earth on the topic and hopefully bring to light a few issues I haven’t seen brought up anywhere besides from my fellow TGD staff.

Why do people assume that this will replace the controller? It will not do such a thing. It's just s new way to play video games and in no way replaces the controller.

Personally I like the idea. I'd like to get a workout while playing video games.

After I read this, I stopped reading the article:
    quote
I know I’m going to hear “People get up and play Wii Bowling.” Yes, they do, and these are specifically the people who don’t play games like Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, or Devil May Cry. They don’t intend to play anything other than the gimmicky Nintendo Wii games.
So much for blatant stereotyping. I'm probably one of the biggest Call of Duty fans you could find, yet I still play Wii Bowling every once in a while. This line makes no sense at all, as he's trying to imply that only casual gamers play the Wii. How stupid can you be, honestly.

You stopped reading because he's right? That's not stereotyping, that's the damn demographic and it's ACCURATE.

If you believe that, you're just as stupid as this article. I just proved the article wrong, yet you still insist that his ignorant statement is correct. Use some logic. I'm the definition of a hardcore gamer, yet I still play Wii. Does that make me a casual gamer just because I play Wii? Does that erase the fact that I'll whip anyone who challenges me in any FPS on 360?

Man, I didn't think some people were such blatant fanboys.

I'm not being a fanboy. The majority of the demographics on the 360 and PS3 are the same. They're not the kind who are going to flail around after a hard day's work to relax with. They're going to want HALO and FOOTBALL and BEGINNER'S WAR FPS THAT CONTROLS POORLY BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT USING A KEYBOARD AND MOUSE LOL AUTOAIM. They're like the jocks that stand by what's tried and true and instantly think doing anything else is uncool without even thinking about it.

(Those, by the way, would by the proper stereotypes.)

You are a minority and I'm in there too. Deal with it.

I hadn't checked out the details, but how is this different from the PSEye/Eyetoy? It sounds like it's nothing revolutionary, but are people actually saying it's going to change the face of video games and all that stuff?
