With so many average and moderately good RPGs spawning every on the Nintendo DS, it makes me happy to see the return of one of the first handheld RPGs to get me hooked. Stephen Rosenburg explains how Nintendo are aiming for the right stuff when it comes to developing M&LR3

Since 1996, Nintendo has done the right thing by adding in the turn-based RPG elements into some of their games. This first started with their collaboration with Squaresoft and the release of Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars. A few years later, the oncoming of the Paper Mario series filled the void us RPG lovers had in our souls. Not too far down the line, the turn-based (and highly appreciated) Mario games made the jump to the hand held systems with Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Gameboy Advance) and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (Nintendo DS). After all of this role-playing success, Nintendo has decided to take a chance by making a same-system sequel, and having our two favorite plumber brothers jumping back into action on the Nintendo DS.
