Comparing Natal with the PS3Mote

So far the realtime demos have been less then impressive for Natal. Sure the studio made videos look great, but there lies the problem. There seems to be a large disconnect between what Natal is supposed to deliver and what has been demonstrate. Meanwhile the PS3Mote demo contains real time demos of actual core gameplay mechanics.

With all the hubbub about Natal there hasn’t been much mention of the lack of real time demos. Furthermore much of the demonstrations we have seen have not really proven the controllers alleged abilities. Tonight on the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, Natal was demonstrated before a live studio audience. Oddly enough Jimmy and the other guys playing with the device were all dressed in orange jumpsuits.

There seems to be a large disconnect between what Apples are supposed to deliver and what has been demonstrate. Meanwhile the Oranges demo contains real time demos of actual core gameplay mechanics.

    it looks ok, and jimmy and co. definately got it going on with the outfits.. but that being said, the Sony one is extremely accurate, and i LOVE THE idea of showing the different objects in the live demo of it at E3...

    Nintendo, MS and Sony provided tech demoes for their motion controls:

    MS promised a LOT but proved that theirs was glitchy and there would be problems along the way.

    Sony showed that everything worked fine, and we'll be waiting to see if third party devs can working with it just as easily.

    Nintendo is releasing their tech demo as Wii Sports Resort, finally eleasing the product their promised 3 years ago. Third party devs have largely failed at utilizing the wiimote to the potential we were promised, save for a few that do a decent job.

    Both MS and Sony are going to be hit by everything that hit Nintendo; bad third party devs, and the people using it. people aren't used to being aware of their bodies or their movement when playing games. In The Conduit my aim still wobbles everywhere when I go to adjust my grip or scratch my arm or something. There was a reason we weren't given 1-1 motion controls and allowed to swing a sword like Link; because we aren't god-damned sword masters. We're nerds and we'd be the next Star Wars kid.

    Have fun MS and Sony. It's a bumpy ride.

      Nintendo and their "bumpy ride" has made them number one in the current console race, despite we can all make fun of the silly waggle controls, it seems people have voted with their wallets and don't care if the technology hasn't been perfected.

      I'm not sure if Microsoft and Sony are going to have the same bad third party devs that Nintendo has, as I don't think the cost to product games on these systems are as cheap, so we probably will not be getting an M&M Racing game in HD anytime soon.

    I'm sure with such a well thought out description that this article is no doubt an amazing, critical, unbiased look at the two devices.

    I'm kidding, you could have just made the title "PlaystationIsAwesomeandXboxSucks.com compares worthless piece of shit Natal to Revolutionary PS3Mote" so I could have just skipped this article.
