Activision is the number one publisher in the videogame industry but that title will surely go away if they drop Sony Console Support. Playstation 3 has sold over 23 million consoles and counting no company can afford too over look that revenue stream.

Let’s read between the lines here, A company like Sony which has three successful products on the market, which has sold over 23 million playstation 3’s world wide and, also for the second biggest publisher in the game EA who has made most of their profit on Sony’s machine this year so far says something.

They're not stupid, they wouldn't do such a thing unless they had a benefit from it. Either the profit is negligible or they think putting PS3 dev time into other stuff would be more useful.

That' assuming they actually do it though.

I think you're forgetting it's Activision + Blizzard, and not long ago they were boasting about having no debt and lookin' to buy other companies.

I don't think they're hurting for cash right now, and probably won't be for a while. That said, I doubt they'd drop all Sony support just like that. Could be more industry posturing.

Well that's how it is. PS3 is very expensive to develop and supply for. If you worked for the gaming industry and have ever been in any way involved with the developmental process this generation, you would know that all too well.

I don't know much about the development except for the fact is it's only 2nd to the Wii in manhours spent developing game for. And of course manhours is money spent. Only thing is Wii sells really high so obviously no game company complains about that.

I do know and this is very true. Lots of BD-Rs are used and wasted during development of PS3 versions of games. And BDs are expensive. That of all things needed to supply development for PS3 versions of games. PS3 supplies are the most expensive of all.

Submission of a game to Sony is also very expensive. It;s over $100k. And if it fails submission that's all wasted and another $100k has to be spent to submit it again.

Of course Activision wouldn't be in debt. But if part of the reason for that is probably because the sales of their games on other platforms make up for it, then that's something to think about. Remember, supporting a console is an investment for game publishers and developers.

Guys it's hiphopgamer. Activision won't do it, since it will lose millions.
