James Walker has had it. This goes past Bobby Kotick's recent dropping Sony support threats. This has been a long time coming. Someone needs to call Bobby out on the things he is doing with what was a company we all could at the very least say used to be "better than EA"

Activision’s CEO Bobby Kotick is the freakin’ devil. Oh, sure, I know that may sound a little extreme but it really is the only way to explain away his particular brand of douchebaggery.

Alright, fine. So it’s no secret that Kotick has been something of an ass for a long time now. This is due in large part to his business philosophy of turning Activision into the McDonald’s of video game publishing; releasing sequel after sequel after sequel to games that at one time may have been fun but now are little more than empty shells of their former selves: I refer to this as the “Tony Hawk’s Underground syndrome. Furthermore, when Activision isn’t trying to squeeze every ounce of water from the surprisingly moist rocks, they’re busy trying to cash in on every single God damn licensed property imaginable.

There is no denying it: Bobby Kotick has turned Activision into an empty, soulless shell of a video game company that has grown uninspired and unoriginal. Ironic, considering that’s what they were saying about Electronic Arts not too long ago.

Regardless, while Kotick has always been viewed at as little more than a shrill businessman, his actions over the past few weeks have shot him into the stratusphere of douchebaggery for which there is, sadly, little chance of retribution.

Well, it's pretty true. Back 10 years ago, Activision was awesome. I loved a whole bunch of Activision games, didn't complain about a single one of them. They were great quality games. But now, Activision is useless. It's sad to see a once great company fall to such a level.

Yet we can't deny that they make lots of money.

Look, the best way to get at Activision is through your wallet. Let Bobby Kotick know that you're no longer interested in their games, especially with his recent actions and accusations and trash. If he hears it enough he'll notice the dollar signs (not you, he sees you as $$) walking away.

But tell him also that if he wants to retract what he said, he has to do it through a public apology before you'll buy their games.

    Yup . . . I'd like to see that . . . high and mighty Bobby and Activision releasing a public apology . . .

Meh, his words on Sony are true, they need to drop the price.. but.. that is nothing new and doesn't need to be discussed (if that is what you are referring to what needs to be retracted).

Other than that though, the quality of games they keep churning out will certainly keep dropping more and more. I think Modern Warfare 2 is just about the only thing I'm interested in from the company anymore. I play to not only buy it, but maybe even pre-order it (the first time I've done this with any game). I can just hope one day Infinity Ward breaks off from the company, and we'll see how long Treyarch lasts trying to hold the series up.

Well I think what he needs to retract is pretty much the drama wherein he said it. He acted high and mighty and threatening and all that. Yeah everyone wants a PS3 price cut. We got that nearly 3 years ago after launch of the PS3. It's been said since then.

But currently I don't believe Sony CAN lower the price of the PS3. Now if they manage to lower production costs a bit more, then I think they'd gladly lower it because it'd make more sales. But currently . . . no.

But yeah the part I think he should retract if he suddenly gets a clue and says "Hey, people didn't like my threats and now I may lose money" is the whole high and mighty way of saying what he did. He needs to admit that maybe . . . just maybe, he jumped the gun a bit.

But then again, if he still carries through with it and does leave Sony, well then, his loss, because the PS3 won't stay at the current price forever.

It's so weird. EA has made better games and Activision has taken their place as the evil corp.

Activision ruined music games, especially for DDR.

It's not suprising all anyone cares about is money and reproducing crappy sequals is the best way to do it.

I thought that activision sold Tony Hawk's anyway?

Nope they kept the license but cut out Neversoft from developing it. Neversoft did a damn good job for Activision when they had more than a year to make Tony Hawk games. After TH4 they were almost given 6 months to make a new Tony Hawk and that is when things started to decline. Activision are terrible these days.

I don't know how accurate that is -- Neversoft was acquired by Activision in 1999.

Ehhh...the article lost a lot of credibility when I saw they were listing Call of Duty: Big Red One and Call of Duty 2 separately to make it look like they're milking....when in reality, they were released at the same time, but Big Red One was the PS2 counterpart of CoD2.

Same goes for the All Fronts version of WaW. Activision is a shitty enough company without having to smudge facts.
