The Top Upcoming RPGs For PS3

Still think the Playstation 3 doesn't have many decent Japanese RPGs? Scrawlfx have put together a list of the upcoming JRPGs, including a summary of each game, the suspected release dates and a "hype meter" to show how hyped each game is. Go to the source for the full list.

Insterested in any of the games on the list? Then check them out in the RPG forums.

Role-playing games haven't yet flourished this generation, but will be soon. I'm talking about real role-playing games straight from Japan. Role-playing games that will make a mark like Final Fantasy or Persona.

The future looks bright for role-playing games on PlayStation 3. Support from NIS America, Square Enix, Atlus and other publishers are bringing a lot of great titles to PlayStation 3 such as Final Fantasy XIII, Trinity Universe, and Demon's Souls.

Read on for the current state of PlayStation 3 RPGs. We've red-starred games only on the console and green-starred games with exclusive content for the console.

    I've been wanting to get into RPG's this gen. However, there are never any that interest me. The closest was MUA (isn't that considered an RPG too?). But anything else . . . nada.

          MUA is considered a ARPG -- and even still, it is more leaning towards the 'action' bit of the acronym ARPG then it is the 'role-playing' bit.

          MUA:2 looks awesome.

          Yeah I suppose you're right, it does seem to lean more toward the Action part of it. I agree, the second one looks awesome!

          That's the closest I've played concerning an RPG though I wish I could get into others though.

          Oh, yeah thats an action rpg. If you want to play a good PS3 rpg, try Disgaea 3.

    A number of NIS publishings there.

    A bit interesting.

    TBH, I'm more interested in Versus XIII than XIII itself, I just can't muster much hype for either though ~_~

      Demon's Souls isn't a JRPG it is an Action RPG created by a Japanese developer. So you ultimately get the action and fun of a Western RPG like Elder Scrolls: Oblivion with the indepth mind*bleep* of an Eastern RPG.

        Well it didn't hurt for him to clarify that. Heck, there may've been other members who weren't entirely sure about the nature of Demon's Souls; hence his correcting me could be seen as valuable to others.

    I want all of them. But Demon's Souls and White Knight Chronicles are highest on my list.

    At least Sony is making an effort on expanding their RPG library. Demon's Souls sounds pretty cool. But I'll have to see more from it to judge.

      Hit up RE4freak4's channel on Youtube; he has a full walkthrough of Demon's Souls there. You could either watch all of it, or just some of it, to get an idea of the game.

      I watched the whole thing, and have essentially spoiled the whole game. But I regret nothing.
