OXCGN takes an indepth look at gaming blogs and online journalism; looking at the pros, cons and common misconceptions about the difference between "journalists", "bloggers" and what gamers think of them.

With the huge amount of social networking and blogging these days, where everyday people can reach the world, some wonder about the legitimacy of non-commercial sites based on people and people’s opinions.

After all, put one way, opinions are like arseholes….everyone has one, most of them stink, and no one wants to hear yours, right?

But are all these blog sites or even some of the more developed sites based on online hosting services like WordPress just ‘blowing foul air’, or do they really contribute to people’s interests and actually engage, entertain, and enrich?

For many gamers the answer is simple: gaming blogs and even the more developed sites based on online hosting services that aren’t commercial and don’t have to answer to anyone are not legitimate.

Good article, probably the most annoying things in gamer blogs are the articles made simply to stir up attention and make fan boys rage simply to bring in more traffic. That and the countless posts that are assumptuions based on rumors from far left field, having little to no base in reality. Hiphopgamershow and sonylifestyle come to mind.

Running a gaming blog can be tough. You have to fight for credibility in a sea cynical readers. To most people you’re just another yahoo on the Net. And when you do spend hours coming up with original content you have to fight to get people to see or read it. And there you have to compete with Top 10 lists and Flame War bait articles which seem to get the most attention.

We welcome those who have a passion for 'writing' rather than ranting re gaming atOXCGN. It's our USP (unique selling point) Rather than throw up news item after news item that everyone has done, and simply copied it from the second source of the third sources source, we prefer to give one of the writers a task of fleshing it out, findiing how it can, could, will affect the industry or gamers, and then post that along with the original source and others to back it up.

That way of doing things has helped us gain a reputation of being honest and as clear as we can be.

You will never please eveyone, that's a given in gaming, and in jurnolism in general, thing is, you do what you do do best, and work with others that have the sme ethos or thoughts.

So if anyone feels like they would like to contribute to OXCGN, they simply have to contact us, and we'll then let you know what level of commitment is required.

This is where the wanna-bes disappear, and the will-dos come out . .as the wanna-bes just want to get the glory of having their name up without having to do the work required.

So feel free to contact us . . .
