EA introduced microtransactions into NCAA Football 10 in the form of "dynasty accelerators" that not only boost offline play, but will also boost the player's teams in online leagues.

Is EA going too far in asking people to pay for a competitive advantage online?

The only thing more pathetic than a company offering buyable advantages for online play is the people who will actually buy them.

I interviewed the game's designer last week and he said they would be releasing a patch to allow the option to disable these accelerators in Online Dynasties. He said they were put in there not for us gamers, but for the casual fan who didn't want to devote the time to the game. This interview is posted on elsewhere on gamegrep.

I still agree its a little ridiculous, but it doesn't really impact me.

What casual gamer is going to care enough to pay to get an advantage purely for the fact that they don't play often?

The 30-year old guy who works in an office and makes enough money where he doesn't care about spending a little extra on his favorite game.

I guarantee you people will pay. The sad thing is that some of the 'accelerators,' such as the recruiting advisor, could have been in the game to make dynasty mode better.

But as far as I know, they will be releasing that patch to give online dynasty admins the option to turn off 'accelerators.'
