Price has always been a point of argument in any console war, particularly in this generation of skyrocketing costs. If you were to remove price from the equation, which console would you choose: the Xbox 360 or the PS3?

You’ve weighed in on the discussions regarding the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 price debate. There were many great points raised on either side, but what if cost was removed from the equation? If price weren’t an issue, which console would you choose?

    Money wasn't a problem and I got a launch PS3 so there's your answer.

All things being even costwise: Xbox 360 for the games (XBLA, XNA/Community games, even multiconsole titles that for the most part seem better), controller, Netflix, and friends online.

I agree, XBL is greater than any other online gaming service,
but i disagree that multiplatform games are "for the most part" better on the 360.

      I like the Wii's, and PS3's more.
and the XBOX controllers have always sucked, they need to bring back the classic NES padlle

People don't understand, long-term, you invest more money into the Xbox 360.

    Xbox 360 entry-level: $299

    Wi-Fi: $100

Xbox Live (if you've had the console since launch): $200

    HD-DVD player: $200

Extended Warranty (you need it with RRoD): $50

    $850. Holy shit.

Entry Level PS3: $399. Ouch. That's gotta hurt.

Good thing costs aren't a problem in this article .

      Shinobi_razor Jul 16, 09
you dont need the wi-fi adapter, its overpriced and wired is better anyway.

the HD-DVD player is worthless and you'd have to be a moron to pay $200 for it.

i dont know anyone who bought extended warranty, and MS will fix RROD problems for 3 years after you buy it.

so that takes off $350. still $100 more but Live has a lot more features than PSN anyway, and lots of ppl are happy to pay $50 a year.

At the end of the day, all these features are moot because the most important thing about XBL or PSN is multiplayer, not features, not content, not any other bell or whistle.

Says you.I rarely play games online.I'm far more into demos, trailers, themes and buying games off PSN

In the online area, I'm more into the communication aspect of the community. So features are a huge thing with me too.

I must say, Shinobi just bitch slapped you.

And if cost wasn't a problem, i'd have both. But seeing as it is, i'll stick to the good ol 360.
    • 3
      Matthew Jul 16, 09
not really, because Xbox Live, the wireless adapter and HD-DVD Player are optional, so you don't have to spend $850. Also, there is no need for the extended warranty since you get a 3 year manufactures warranty against the RROD

      mikegotgame Jul 16, 09
I hear you. Let's not mind the cost for now. At least, for the article.

      Deeko Jul 16, 09
I just want to say You don't need extended warranty. Microsoft clears the RRoD for free if it's their fault for bad engineering.

Wi-Fi can be found for $40-$60.

And Xbox-live has proved itself over PSN by simple rule. You get what you pay for.

Kave En is crazy. He didn't even factor in a golden faceplate ($100), a cooling system ($100), the Super Deluxe Extended Warranty ($150) (because you would want to have a FREE 3 year warranty for RRoD? That's dumb), Xbox Live for 2,000 years ($100,000), and the bullet proof glass to protect yourself from the inevitable explosion caused by RRoD ($500).

That brings the cost of a 360 to a whopping 3 gazillion dollars!

Good thing he counted every unecessary peripheral for the 360 he could find but didn't factor in anything extra for the PS3. He's really spreading the word, educating the world. Help us understand other things Kave, we've got so many questions we need the answers to.

Seriously though, my cousin just spent $199 for an "entry level" 360. Relax guy.

      Steam is on consoles now?

(these comments are getting silly, cost wasn't an issue as per the title, and now PC gaming is getting involved on the PS3/360 discussion.. c'mon now)

I think I'm going to change my answer to...

Nintendo Wii, because of the great exclusive games like Wii Fit, Wii Music, and Wii Sports Resort.

yeah because Live can do a lot more than Steam can. and Steam isnt on console either.
  • 0
    Goldva_X Jul 16, 09
Does that really change anything at all? I don't see how Steam being a PC service reflects the fact it has more features than Live and PSN and is free.

haha, it changes everything, this is only about the PS3 and 360.

To be fair though a lot of people have shit PC's which are only used for internet browsing and porn, which wouldn't be able to play an actual game above the levels of Minesweeper thanks to a little bitch named Vista.

Besides, since when was PSN not free? xD

If cost were not a problem . . . I would buy BOTH consoles.

Oh. Wait . . . I did buy both consoles! Yay!!

If I absolutely had no ability to buy both and HAD to choose (and it'd be a little tough) just one, I'd probably have to say I like more PS3 exclusives than 360 exclusives, so I'd go with just the PS3.

But thankfully I CAN have more than one console, so I have a PS3, 360, AND a Wii! Hooray for self-thinking and not being led by a fake "war!"

if cost weren't a problem i would buy out sony, microsoft but not ninty because well they kinda suck right now. i would then force sony and microsoft to create an ULTRA console the launch titles would be shenmue 3 and duke nukem forever.
  • 0
    Hideo1 Jul 16, 09
If cost weren't a problem I'd buy out Ninty, keep pushing all the so-called video-games they make and sell which are currenting raping the actual gaming industry silly until I'm twice as minted, then I'd buy out Sony and Microsoft, hire the people from Ninty who didn't turn into Rtards/got fired and then lead the creation of the PSWii60, thus becoming a legend forever and ever.

In seriousness though, PS3. Simply because of the exclusives are more preferrable. If cost isn't a factor, the games are all that matters. Hell, even if it is the games are pretty much all that matters xD

    The Xbox.....

I openly admit the PS3 is the more sophisticated, more advanced piece of hardware. It excels over the Xbox in many ways. But that sophistication leads to a lack of 3rd party support. Exclusives for it are lackluster and multiplatform games shine brighter on the Xbox360.

This is because we live in a business world and in business, people care about money. Time is money, and things get rushed and deadlines have to be made for people to get paid.

Killzone 2 is a prime example of how great things on the PS3 can be made, but it took a very long time to get out there, and had a stark budget.

The Xbox360 and the Wii are cash-cow dreams for developers of hardware and software and can bring in the bacon.

Also, the Xbox interface is so much more user-friendly in my experiences.

Playing the PS3 in my household always pushes me to go back to my 360. But YMMV

Some valid points, yes, but you stated PS3 as having 'lacklustre' exclusives as though it was a fact.

Killzone 2, Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, inFamous, Ratchet And Clank, Resistance....these are lacklustre?!

To him, yes they are. To every other sane person, they're not.

If money wasn't a problem, I'd still have bought a PS3. It has a free and robust online service with a functional online store, excellent games both out and coming soon, and great multimedia capabilities.

Granted, odds are the same could be said for 360 (albeit the free online bit), but in the end, the better choice can never be attributed to a general consensus. It's all about individual preference.

I still would choose the 360. The exclusives are more appealing to me, plus I only have one friend who has a PS3, versus the 20 or so that I know who have a 360. That one friend with the PS3 actually regrets ever buying it too.
