Despite what the tabloids will tell you, Neoseeker's Lydia Sung is not out of commission, returning to her Sunday Musings this week with the topic of homosexuality in video games at hand. Have a read -- with an open mind, of course.

Homosexuality is still a major issue in the video game community, to the point where companies really scratch their heads and run around blind, formulating policies they think might work on paper until another Teresa or Gaywood comes along. What can they really do? If this group isn't angry with them, another one is. In all honesty, social change is probably the only way to guarantee acceptance on the gaming front, but we all know that takes a whole lot of time and tireless efforts by the masses.

So how about going about this another way?

    Yeah, I posted on there.

Ehhh, just give it a decade or so, the next generation or so, should be more accepting than the last, so on and so forth.

Like racism, it'll fade from the majority, and only some will still hold onto the idea. Like racists are still around, in 50 years, homophobes will still be around I'm sure ~_~

You'd be amazed at how many racists there are.
And not just the Supremacist Group but other's aswell.

And as long as there's religion there are homophobes. So I don't think that'll EVER leave.

In fact intolerance has sadly just become a human thing know. We will alway's judge people for being different no matter what, it's just become a human nature. Sure the number of intolerant people can be lowered but not by much, maybe like racism in the future we could but a blanket over it to make it seem like its a thing of the past but it still doesn't mean that it's not there.

Well, I'd kinda agree with dwg's first statement, you'd be surprised at how much racism is still around I know I've been getting more and more surprised as time goes on. I used to think it kinda was a thing of the past and then I find out that even though they never grew up with racism and was actually against racism . . . even my own sisters are racist now. Irritates me at the thought. Still love them, but I get aggravated when their racism shows up.

Well it's certainly an interesting manner in which to breed tolerance although considering the current gaming demographic I'd highly doubt it'd have any effect, at least not for a very long time.

The paradoxical thing about tolerance, is the question of "Why aren't you showing tolerance to intolerant people?"

It's not being a hypocrite, anyone who adopts a philosophy that HATES a certain group of people because of what they are surely do not deserve any tolerance.

Well I can kinda understand. Anyone who hates a group of people just for being those people have some serious issues and need to grow up.

My statement though was sorta like those who would argue with you and say "There is no absolute truth" all the while forgetting that they themselves are trying to state their own "absolute truth" by that mere statement.

I suppose it'd be better to say that people who hate others merely for living, don't deserve any respect. Or going by the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" or "you reap what you sow" . . . Which can also say don't let those "haters" turn you into them by having you hate them.

Oh please no. Please don't even entertain the thought! Your brain will . . . rot.

EDIT: please, no one take my comment as homophobic or something. It's meant at a light-hearted "Oh the Horror!"

i dislike people over far more trivial matters than their sexuality. if someone doesn't like gay dudes, that's his business.
