In this new article, Brandon of TBMAG, discusses an important, and all too overlooked aspect of Mass Effect that frankly left quite a bit to be desired.

I like Mass Effect. I have played it through completely twice and intend to again before the sequel is released. It is one of the better 360 games I have played. If you comment saying what an idiot I am for not liking this game, you hereby declare yourself a mindless sheeple fanboy that didn’t even take the time to glance at this article.

Hopefully, in time, I won’t have to put modifiers like that. Unfortunately, it seems that some of the readers are thinking that I hate every game in existence. Mass Effect is a great game; that doesn’t stop it from insulting the gamer’s intelligence. The designers over at BioWare got so much right when they were designing this game that the one thing they got wrong becomes a glaring embarrassment.

Let me give a quick shout out to the Uncharted fanboys at N4G that have my last article removed no matter how much of a response it received.
    N4G < GameGrep.

Myself, what I didn't like about Mass Effect was the weapon/armor buying systems..it was too hard to find out which was the best set for me at a given time..plus the fact you could go so many damn places for them..the whole thing seemed pointless especially given tons of great equipment could be had through battles.

I gave up on Etrian Odyssey for a similar reason: no stat differences displayed in shops. Seriously.

Upgrading weapons/armor in RPGs is one of my favourite things about them, so both games drove me crazy.

I wasn't a fan of the weapon/armor thing too. I also didn't like the fact that you had these awesome planets to explore and they were all so boring to drive around on, nothing to explore really save for the main objective and a point of interest here and there.

        Not just me then!
Yeah that's the complaint of a lot of people -- I reckon this'll be fixed in the sequel.

Based on what we saw at E3 the worlds look a lot more sexier but I didn't see any weapon/armor stuff.

As much as I agree with some of the thing's said in the article, I think it's the title that's the 'problem' since it doesn't really match with what the guy states in the article itself.

The comment about changing sides at the end of the game is a little redundant too considering it's ultimately up to the player. If the player wants to totally ruin their work as a Paragon or a Renegade that's their decision, not a flaw in the game.

Honestly though, Mass Effect is a great game. For all its flaws, there's no reason that you shouldn't like it.

Well he played it twice and will again -- the title is misleading.

I have talked to him about changing the title, but he insists that its part of his creative expression or some such. Idk. /shrug

aka It's a strong statement in order to draw attention to his article. Which is lame.

No, it's a statement saying that if we as gamers had self respect, we would hold our standards higher than the flagrant mistakes designers keep letting slip through the cracks.

Have you ever tried making a huge multimillion dollar game on a deadline?

Mass Effect was one of the few games where I would rush through combat and action in order to just talk to people. Even then, having your allies shoot through you to get to the enemies instead of just moving is a pretty frustrating.

    And elevators.

Maybe he should change the title to "Games WE like, but probably shouldn't".

    Curt Connors Jul 22, 09
Ooh, a title that immediately tells me how I should react to a game? How very appealing, especially from someone who apparently doesn't know the difference between 'moral' and 'morale.'

This is the author and, to be honest, I had to create an account on here just to comment on your idiocy. I quote from any internet dictionary search:

Moral-1. Of or concerned with the judgment of the goodness or badness of human action and character

Seriously, the internet reminds me what kind of idiots stream off their versions of intelligence that they find true. Completely and utterly worthless, people like this make me consider ending the article daily.

The ending isn't about "Letting everyone die when you have been good throughout the game"

Its played out to put you in a position of
    A) Save a few people and risk the whole mission
    B) Let them few die to save the mission.

Its not good or evil, its just seeing how you would react in those situations.

    *slight spoilers*

Plus their ass holes anyway, didn't listen when they had the chance. I don't want them in the second game, which is why I let them die.

Lets just hope I made the right choice.

I hated searching every backwater planet for hours on end just to get everything when the planets themselves didn't really vary much past the idea that you land, drive around to say 3-4 points on the map, explore them and leave again. If you ask me, THAT was the biggest failure of Mass Effect.

That's one of the things the BioWare are fixing for Mass Effect 2.
