Let the controversy begin: Blend Games writer William Usher challenges the intent of the SAW game on pushing the boundaries for a game based on torture-survival and asks how Konami could abandon Six Days in Fallujah for SAW.

Konami seems to think that SAW as a game, is far less harmful to mainstream gaming than Six Days in Fallujah. In which case I will readily ask how surfing through a man’s intestines for a key to a door is somehow less offensive than reliving six days of a soldier’s life in the Iraq war?

Its not about the content of the game, rather the publicity it receives. Six Days received a LOT of opposition, and even FOX (I think) had a segment on it. I know that if I owned a game company, I wouldn't want it to be known in households as "that evil game company which makes evil games and trivalises wars", even though thats not what my company is doing. Saw, on the other hand, might have more disturbing stuff, but the movies have been coming out for years, and even the most fervent do-gooders don't care about it anymore.

And that's why Konami needs to grow some balls and stop being such scared little piss-ants.

I know it's bad business but at the end of the day they've lost a lot of respect and credibility in the gaming community for this, and since they're a gaming company that should mean more than ignorant parents looking for things to complain about and the morons at Fox news.

Except that Konami publushes for Kojima Productions...and Kojima Productions makes Metal Gear Solid. Fappin' Metal Gear Solid. People may be a lil' butthurt now, but those wounds will heal eventually and they'll be suckin' up Konami's games all over again.

Who said they wouldn't? I'm just saying any game between now and an actual release of Six Days or MGS:R is gonna flop, 'cause they've been such massive pussies about this.

Fox did a report on Mass effect and how it has more sex and nudity than a porno mag.

Didn't seem to effect that game much.

Milking money off of a popular movie series most likely.

Saw (the movie) was a pretty fun concept. But I think Saw (the game) kinda loses its shine when it's not a real person's life on the line (I find the movie to be closer to enacting the experience than the game).

The big thing to keep in mind though is that Saw is fictional setting for a game, whereas Six Days in Fallujah is a real setting for a game.
