Controversy erupted when a PR firm for Japanese rape simulation games decided to change the negative outlook on rape simulators by calling them "platinum games" and seeking a broader audience to sell the games to. However, Cinemablend didn't take too kindly to this kind of news going mainstream even though many male gamers did.

Many of the users at Destructoid and N4G actually condone raping of women in video games, going as far as defending why the games should exist, be sold and actually cater to an audience.

Don't you love reading the comment sections of sites and seeing how touchy everyone is about games?

Personally I can see why some people are so touchy about this kind of game, but people are blowing it massively out of proportion. It's a game, let the people who want it buy it, let the others ignore it. Although admittedly it's the kind of game that should be under the counter and asked for.

This game is more like a "fantasy" rather than "hardcore raping".
Some movie scenes are 10 times harder than this.

*japanese male gamers. infact, you can leave out the 'gamers' part - this stuff likely just sells to dudes looking for new ways to fap. i doubt any casual gamer is buying this because he's done playing through mgs4 for the 3rd time, and wants something new to play.

yeah children can easily access porn at home or at schoool via the interenet or just by watching TV at night so that's not really an issue, just don't give your kid this game.

The rape part is "theatrical" , they should mention the orgasm and the cat's ears instead.
If the game was gore like a "war simulator" it wouln't be on sale.

PS: crime and sex crime are not equal in our society.

    Stupidity, it amazes me.

I am sure for SOME male gamer they don't mind, but not ALL of them. If I was playing a game, and I had the choice to rape a woman, I wouldn't do it becuase that's the kind of guy I am. Assuming that some male gamers don't mind doesn't mean all or even the majority are ok with it.

Well, the game marked in the controversial debate is all about rape...it's not about choice, it's the objective of the game. =/
