Are you a Van Halen fan? Then you’re probably looking forward to Guitar Hero: Van Halen and its first-ever trailer. Before marking the game’s release date on your calendar, have a look at the questions you should be asking Activision.

Oddly enough, Guitar Hero: Van Halen will feature only 25 songs from Van Halen, and this includes three Eddie Van Halen guitar solos (Eruption, Cathedral, and Spanish Fly for you Van Halen fans). Really? 25 songs? Out of 11 Van Halen albums, the best that Neversoft, Budcat, and Activision can produce is 25 Van Halen songs in a game titled Guitar Hero: Van Halen?

Sure 25 songs on the disc.......60 as DLC. Activision has to make that 15 mil for Kotnick somehow.

How else do you expect them to make money? Surely by not providing a game thats worth $60

The amount of Van Halen songs is pretty ridiculous, but the fact that certain former members were omitted was probably Van Halen's fault. I think Eddie sometimes likes to pretend that certain people never existed. Same thing happened in 1984 when David Lee Roth left. He always acted like the new Van Halen was 100x better than the old one. Now he's doing the same thing here.

But what's with Gary Cherone not being included? AFAIK, he left on good terms with the band.

Then again, I don't really care if they don't include Cherone.

It would be kind of pointless to add his character without adding any of the songs from VHIII. Unless they actually wanted to add songs from that album... but I doubt anyone would want to do that lol.

It's not so much about leaving on good terms as it is about being too proud to recognize their existence.

What more could you expect? Didn't you know Activision is the long lost cousin of Capcom?

Wow, seriously your posts get worse. Has the thought ever crossed your mind that people buy Guitar Hero / Rock Band games because they ENJOY them?

I guess I enjoy Rock Band because I enjoy music. I don't buy Guitar Hero anymore because I've invested too much into the RB franchise. It'd seem wasteful to spend another $60 on a disc that I can't play my other 624 songs on.

Is it that much of a hassle to switch out discs ?

Thats not the case. Personally, the whole disc thing isn't the selling point, nor is it the turn off for me. Its the DLC. Look at it this way - I have RB1 and 2 as well as over 600 songs as DLC. Thats indeed quite a lot of money (around $1400 I think it you do the math). Now why would I want to waste $60 on a game that has 15 or so songs that I like? Its not a "hate" thing, its a "logical" thing.

Dude... They only just recently hit 600 songs of DLC for Rock Band. If you truly have 624 songs for it, I don't think you're too concerned with whether or not you like the songs you buy. You're acting like all that money you invested would be a waste if you bought this disc. It's not like all those songs disappear once you buy a Guitar Hero game. All you have to do is take 10 seconds to switch out the discs.
