In light of The Darkside Chronicles' impending release, Capcom has decided to take a look at a previous related entry in the Resident Evil series in a promotional effort.

Last evening the team's "Mikeeb" took a look at two of his favourite scenes in the series' second game -- the opener and the gun shop bit -- so have a read and a look, if you care.

Hey everyone, today I’ll be showing you my first entry of many in a series we like to call “Resident Evil: The Nostalgia Diaries”. If you didn’t catch my last post, “Nostalgia Diaries” is going to be a series of blog posts, community discussion, and other fun little RE nuggets for you to feast on in preparation for the upcoming Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. Darkside Chronicles covers content from Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and a whole new story line that will be announced later on down the road. But in the meantime I’ll be playing through RE2 and RE:CV and presenting you with my recap and favorite scenes/moments from each game. This isn’t just about me talking to myself though, I want to hear what you, the fans, have to say, because after all you guys made these games what they are today! So without further adieu, Resident Evil 2: Chapter I…

oh yeah, cause its not like it was a good game or anything.

oh wait, too bad it was one of the best RE games ever.

What console will The Darkside Chronicles be for?

As for above post, I really enjoyed Resident Evil 2 - perhaps one of the better in the series. So I don't see how you could say that no-one cares about it?

Oh. Like how there's a Silent Hill remake for the Wii as well? Maybe I should look at getting on. =]

Yeah, but our writer Lydia (RabidChinaGirl) played it at E3 and says to avoid it..I put a lot of stock in her opinion..and she's a huge Silent Hill fan. Keep in mind a different team made it -- Silent Hill series has been dead since 4 (3 unofficially). Play the original if you're interested in that one.

The trailer seemed promising actually. I mean, I'm getting the PSP version, naturally, but it seems like a good "Run and hide" horror game. Last time that kind of game was made, it was the most underrated horror title on the PS3.

I just hope when they actually get around to remaking RE2 they do it multi-platform. I'd be a little disappointed if it was done on the Wii. I want it to take advantage of some of these next-gen graphics for crissakes.

i would be so happy if they remade it. but what if they changed it to over the shoulder like RE4 and 5? would you still like it? i would have to see screenshots before i could answer that.

I'd want them to do it like they did the REmake. Do a makeover of all the envireonments, add some new puzzles, new enemies, maybe throw in a new special weapon here or there. Stuff like that. But keep the traditional aiming. I've gotten used to it again after playing the REmake on my Wii.

you are probably right, but i have gotten used to the new aiming style lately and i actually dont think its that bad. other than not being able to move and shoot at once, but thats never been a staple of RE.

but if they do remake them, they should release them onto XBLA and PSN as downloadable. forget Wii. Nintendo consoles dont need any RE games, its totally not what their consoles are about.

I just want to see an actual remake. But please be on 360/PS3. Can you imagine Raccoon city in HD? @.@

It already looks brilliant on the wii, I wanna advance on that. God I can't wait for Darkside to come out.

I hope so. They're liscencing deal ended with RE4, so any new remake shouldn't be confined to Nintendo.

it can be done just as well, look incredible and be released as a downloadable game, Battlefield 1943 proved that.
