Electronic Theatre reports on the present state of the public's anticipation for the forthcoming latest entry in the Halo saga, and how Microsoft knows about it.

Receiving far less attention than both Halo 3 and Halo Wars have prior to and since their respective releases, Halo 3: ODST may not be the show stealing release Microsoft and developer Bungie have been hoping. Though the game will undoubtedly sell well, any chances of it being a record breaker seem decidedly slim at present, and the two companies responsible are undoubtedly aware of that.

well the biggest part of any shooting game is the online but this online is just halo3 so I know I'm definatly not going to buy it because I already have Halo3 should have just made it dlc instead of a full game.

You'll have to buy it. Because they'll make it so that you can't play online without the 3 maps included in ODST. You watch.

      Money scrounging *bleep*s!

They couldn't just make the game a DLC(At least I think). ODST was a project that started small, but eventually grew into a full fledged game. It has a full story line to it and has a new multiplayer. Although from what I hear, Firefight will have no matchmaking so it will be a friends only thing.

I see more people not buying this because of the price. This was originally stated as a $40 dollar game until Microsoft bumped it up to $60. Bungie felt that it may be a bit much so they threw the old multiplayer in with every map, including the soon to be released Mythic part 2 DLC. For those that haven't bought any of the maps yet, this is a great deal, seeing as the current DLC totals near $30.

So again, I'm glad this isn't DLC but instead is a full fledged game. It basically already has the potential to be a full fledged game. So it comes with a 'Recycled' multiplayer. That multiplayer is still one of the most played multiplayer game around.

BTW, Audioslave, the DLC will most likely be available in due time after the release just like the Mythic map pack part one was. Just wait for it to hit the marketplace. This is basically a way to play the maps early and without worrying about DLC.

Audioslave, u bought halo wars for the first mythic maps? and u didn't like halo wars? i love halo wars but i understand if someone else doesn't. and for ODST. I'm po'ed because Bungie did say that it was not going to be a full priced game b/c the storyline is not very long. and Innerdemon can u post a link that says firefight is friends only? if there is no matchmaking then im not buying this.

Well, it has basically been a topic around the Bungie forums, but I will go dig up a thread or two. But the reason that it won't have Firefight as a multiplayer option(If indeed that holds true), is because it runs on the same engine as the campaign. There is no matchmaking for the campaign so there is no matchmaking for Firefight. Again, this is just what I have heard.

Alright, I did a quick search and found a quick and easy news story at Kotaku that should explain everything clearly.

?? The article didn't say anything about anticipating poor sales? It just said that its not as hyped and both companies know that? Without any quotes or anything?

This is actually the first Halo game that I've anticipated. From what I've heard of the concept, I think it's a great idea. Having the player be less of a bad ass and more of a regular soldier is much more fun and challenging than being the stereotypical hero of the FPS genre.

Most stores i go into around my area are fully pre-ordered when it comes to ODST, so i don't see how the sales will be poor?

Maybe not Halo 3 sales, but they'll still be off the goddamn charts.

The first thing I thought when I saw the articles headline was "hmm maybe because they're over using the Halo brand?" Sure Halo has a large following but how about we try something not Halo, eh Bungie?

Before some Halo fanboy says anything about my comment; what would happen if Square only made FF games, wouldn't people be saying the same thing?
