One reason NOT to stick by a company rather than the console you like:

    1) Money and enjoyment: You will probably not gain any of that by sticking to a conglomerate that probably doesn't even know you exist.

Sticking by companies is pointless, ultimately they're only in it for the money and don't give a damn about you as an individual as opposed to the majority. They'll go where they get money, and in the instance the cash start to dry up, they'll happily toss you aside for the bigger cash cows.

Meh, all iffy reasons. Trophies better than achievements? They're exactly the same thing.

Support the consoles and games that you like; whether it is pure enjoyment or business philosophy.

There, one simple sentence made that entire article redundant.

I'm bored, so I'm going to rip through this.

1: If it's so future-proof, why is it only going to last 10 years? It's impressive, but why release a new model if it's as advanced as possible?

2: The quality is really an opinion, much like the majority of this article. And I bet if you got as many 360's as there were in the Game Informer survey, the rate would be higher. I personally think that the 360 controller is the most comfortable, so the Dualshock 3 being best is again an opinion.

3: 'Rather than giving a score, the PS3 users are given trophies'. Aren't achievements and trophies the exact same thing, just packaged differently?

4: They themselves admit the video store isn't as good as Microsoft's, so you can't have that as an excuse.

5: I can't really comment on the iPhone games vs. PSP games argument, but one game can't have more depth than thousands. Surely.

6: Third party games aren't a reason. There's possibly more on 360, and even the ones they mention are on 360.

7: Judging by Kave En's posting, I doubt that PS3 users are more mature. And I'm certain there's a lot of screamy kids online.

8: The 360 will soon have 1080p movies, and I'm not sure, but I think some games are 1080p?

9: Having to wait for a game to install isn't a good reason, and having it take up a lot of space on your hardrive is even less of a good reason. An upgrade is good but why pay for something you shouldn't need?

10: I believe the 360 and Wii have sold more than the PS3 in Japan.

11: Haha, so the 360 is maxed out and doesn't have a bright future? I'm not saying the PS3 doesn't, but come on.

One of the statements that i found to actually make some pretty good sense was the the thing about PS3 users being more mature. Im strictly talking about playing online, I've personaly never had any foul mouthed kids annoy me durring a game. Not too many people have headsets anyways so that might have something to do with it. Of course there are the few extreme ones like Kave En that do it on forums and on the internet but as far as playing online goes people do keep it pretty respectable.

Yea the 360 in Japan isnt close to the PS3. It out sold them a couple of weeks due to newley released RPGs but other than that its sales havent been threating to the PS3 and not close to the Wii(like everywhere else).

You should stick by the console which has the games and features you enjoy most. For me, that's the PS3, as I think it has the best exclusives, a Blu-Ray player and the online is free.

The article is mostly nonsense, although they do raise an interesting point about the 360 being maxed out...I mean, we're already seeing games like Final Fantasy being shipped on multiple discs, and there's that other one from the creators of Doom (the name escapes me at the moment). While from a graphical and power perspective the 360 still has a lot to offer, it remains to be seen exactly how long it can survive with games using up more and more storage space.

i will stick to Sony till the end i have bought all of there consoles and original 60gb ps3

how can you list that as a reason not to stick by Sony not having backwards compatibility? the only console that has that feature now is Nintendo, at least Sony started with it.
Plus if u wanna play them re buy then for like 5-10 dollars not to mention there is gonna be some sort of PlayStation 3 game that your gonna like out of all of them.

"MAG will not revolutionize the FPS. It will be no where near the games like Half-Life in terms of revolutionary. Imagine this. You're playing. You start a game. Three seconds later, you're sniped by a camper. Respawn again. Same thing happens."

Sounds a lot like some levels in Call Of Duty 4 to me...

For once I actually agree with Kave En, and others here I know do as well - if pulled off correctly, MAG could potentially revolutionise online FPS gaming. Now it's a big if, as it remains to be seen how well 256 players will cooperate in the headset-less PS3 atmosphere, or even if 256 players can be in a single game without major lag issues.

And as for God Of War 3 being the same as the others - it bloody well better be. They were some of the best action games ever, why should God Of War III change that formula? Just give us better graphics, more enemies, more weapons/kills and a longer story and it's already a GOTY contender.

My only beef with MAG is fighting against 128 people sounds a bit TOO much. If the maps are sprawled out, then it would work of course....but I just don't want to be trying to get to the battle only to be jumped by 100 dudes. Because let's face it, it doesn't take too many guys to hold off an advance. 4-5 could pin down quite a few guys.

I just am afraid I will end up spending more time on the loading screen of MAG then actually playing any of the game. Snipers will have a field day, I'm sure.

        Have you read any information?

Most of MAG will consist of 8 people being placed into 'squads' with a commander for that specific squad, and then a head commander for the entire team (All 128 players on one team)

You and your squad work toward objectives. I think it's been made clear it will not be 128 people on one side of the bridge and 128 on the other, and you duke it out. There are objectives, missions, and organization. Sure, having a small war between 256 people sounds hella fun (for me) but it's not all what the game is about.

That's not revolutionary at all. That was done in Battlefield 2 that has been out for years. In the end it isnt a "small war" it just turns into a huge brawl and only the only time people work together is when they are behind enemy lines and BF2 has more stuff like fighter jets and aircraft carriers.

and before you come in with all your "no ur liening " BS.

          quote wiki
Players are able to form squads of up to six soldiers in order to more effectively work as a team. Up to nine squads are permitted per team; each squad has a number (automatically assigned) and name (usually a phonetic alphabet letter) for identification. Members of a squad have the ability to communicate with one another via Battlefield 2's integrated Voice-over IP
Squad leaders may assign their squad a variety of objectives (for example, moving to or attacking a specific location). Orders may also be given by the team's commander. Squad leaders are able to issue requests for commander assets (such as artillery fire) and have a direct VoIP channel to the commander.

Members of a squad may spawn near their squad leader, provided that the leader is not dead (or incapacitated), and that the team holds at least one control point. This feature allows squads to more quickly regroup after taking casualties.

          quote wiki
The commander position is an exclusive role played by one member of each team. Any member of a team may apply for the position, but priority is given to players of higher rank.

The commander alone has access to the "commander screen", an interface similar to that of a real-time strategy game. This allows the commander an overview of the battlefield as a whole, or zoom in and view parts of the map in real-time. The commander also has control of the various commander assets, which include artillery strikes, vehicle and supply drops, and UAV's. They can deploy them to assist their team. The commander can communicate with squads either by sending orders, or via VoIP voice communication. These tools allow the commander to strategically coordinate their forces on the battlefield.

A commander may resign at any point, freeing the position for other members of their team; they may also be forcibly removed by a successful mutiny vote conducted by their team (provided the server allows mutiny votes).

I don't have a PS3 but I found the concept of MAG rather cool. Except at E3 2009, we saw that the interface, as of now, is shit.

Meh, i won't be getting MAG, it's not gonna be revolutionary and from what i can gather, will just be an all out frag and lag fest.

And i must say, slumpy just down right bitch slapped the hell out of kave en.

I don't find too many people willing to communicate online in the PS3 community enough for any squad based system to work in that regard. I myself am pretty guilty of never using my mic....because after hearing people taking a piss, or getting yelled at by their Moms I figured no one really wants to hear wtf my kids are yelling and screaming about either. LMFAO

several of the reasons are at the least, LARGELY a matter of opinion and not fact. these include:

    6. at least the author admits the exclusive games list is an opinion
    7. the Dualshock is NOT the best controller out of the 3 consoles, in fact there is no "best controller", its whatever feels best to you
    8. there is nothing easier to understand about getting gold, silver, bronze etc medals for completing things than getting a point score for doing those things. it might feel nicer to get a gold medal on something, but if you are familiar with gamerscores, you know what a big number means essentially
    11. i hope you arent saying the PSP has better or more epic titles than DS, because thats just ridiculous. Nintendo owns in the handheld market, thats just fact
    13. yes, Sony's systems have a sexy look, but "dont judge a book by its cover" instantly comes to mind
    14. being lag free largely has to do with your connection speed, and those of who you are playing with. Live does have lag of course, but there are also a lot more unique users on Live than PSN, meaning a lot more chance for someone in your game to have a slow speed and make the game lag more
    16. not everyone on Live is a 12 year old that screams a lot. Live gets a bad rap and everyone thinks everybody on Live is 12 years old when thats just so utterly ridiculous
    18. oh, so i guess Xbox 360 games wont be supported online for very much longer? Warhawk is still popular, so of course they are gonna continue to support it. bad example
    21. 360 has the install option now too, so dont get all high and mighty and act like PS3 is superior because it can install games and reduce loading times. at least you have the option to install on 360 and arent forced to like some PS3 games. OH SNAP!!!
    23. "Sony has been the reigning console king for 2 generations". i would argue with that opinion on the grounds that N64 was a lot more popular than the PSX. N64 was one of the best selling systems of all time, and had a lot of good games
    25. wow, this reason is just pure fanboyism to the max. very embarrassing if the author wants to be taken seriously as an impartial journalist. but considering this is on Playstation Lifestyle, i really shouldnt be surprised. i totally forgot that the Wii is still selling like hotcakes and is still the best selling system of ALL TIME. yeah, so i guess that means Nintendo has maxed out the Wii's potential then. thats too bad, i really thought the Wii was gonna be successful

the author made a couple good points, but for the most part, this is just a shameful piece of fanboy tripe with little to no factual information.

MAG is going to allow 256 people to be online in one match, a feat not yet accomplished by any other console game. So, whether it pwns or it fails, it's still going to be recognized as the first game to do this.

      Slumpy monkey Aug 26, 09
and? Its not going to revolutionise anything. You think suddenly after mag every FPS game is going to have 256 people as standard?

No, Its taking what is already there and building upon it.

I never said it would revolutionize the current standard in online gaming, but whether it fails or pwns, it will be recognized as the first game to successfully allow 256 people in an online match on a console.

Plus, the developers have already tried a 256 player game more than once, and there are 0 complaints from the beta. They're not stupid, they won't let lag get in the way.

If MAG is everything it promises to be, face facts, it WILL revolutionize FPS online gaming for having the most players in one game on a console. Many will take after it if it's successfull, and even try to pass it, trust me.
