The Batman: Arkham Asylum Collector's Edition came packaged with a full-sized Batarang and was incentive enough for many fans to fork out the extra cash for that edition. But many gamers were left disappointed with what they ended up with. Rather than recieving a sturdy piece of memorabilia worthy of being called a "collectable", they instead got a cheap plastic model stuck to a plastic stand that had been heavily scratched to look "authentic".

Discuss in the Batman: Arkham Asylum forum

Now that Arkham Asylum is here, the Collector's Edition is appealing to many people solely because of the included batarang. Buyer beware: it's far less impressive than advertised.

While we didn't really expect to get a real batarang of sharpened metal, I'm pretty sure that none of us thought we'd receive a cheap statue that looked like it had been dragged across a cement floor. The Collector's Edition certainly has a haul of fun stuff, but it's a shame to see that its primary selling point is so underwhelming.

I hope no one was expecting a real Batarang.

They've got a point on the scratches part, but did Eidos ever advertise it as a metal batarang?

The scratches are there because the in-game Batarang is also scratched to hell, plus anyone who actually checks up on news and other things would already know they'd be getting a plastic Batang.

Tbh i couldn't care less, it looks decent enough and will go well with my other DC merchandise.

I'm sure many people could make this, themselves at home. Does anyone know how much more fans had to pay to get this "collectible"?

Hm, I'm pretty sure it's to mark the actual batarangs, which would get those marks. Eh, who cares, we know what we were getting.

After Street Fighter IV's atrocious anime movie and soundtracks, I promised myself to never buy a special edition game ever again. I felt so ripped off. >_>

I thought the soundtracks were great, and the anime movie, whilst not a lot of action, had some story to it.

Meh, I prefered the classic SFII soundtracks. The only ones I liked in SFIV were Guile and Cammy's. Rose's was okay, but then got boring. The others weren't as good.

The anime flat out sucked just because of the lack of action, the mediocre voice acting and the lame plot. Not to mention, it only showed like 1/4 of the entire SFIV cast. Bleh... you might have liked it but I certainly felt ripped off.

Your expectations were too damn high then lol. The soundtracks were remixes, and most well-received, so get that nostalgia out of here. xD Keep playing the HD Remix for those tracks, SFIV it's a brand new game and I'd rather not have the same exact tracks...that'll be like ripping us off imo. It would be nice to switch them around, but meh.

The anime's plot wasn't that lame. It's the basic thing, people trying to gain Ryu's power or find out about him. As for the cast...well it did better than that Alpha Generations film, which had about what? Four characters?

I laughed a bit at this article. The word "duh" comes to mind.

Not sure why anyone would want a pristine looking batarang. I think it looks good and realistic personally.....but that doesn't mean I'd waste any money on it either.

Serves them the *bleep* right. I knew about this minute after finding out about the Batarang, and I had no intention of buying it! Learn your lesson.

    Being plastic? That's understandable.

Being scratched like that? No, sir, I don't like it.

I understand wanting to make it look realistic, and it's fine for some people, but I'm just the type of person who likes to buy new things, and have them look...well, new...

But it has been stated since day 1 that it would look like the in-game design, which is all scratched and whatnot, and the pictures have been quite clearly like that as well.

It's fair enough not wanting it scratched of course but it wasn't exactly a secret that it was either.

When you throw a metal object against bricks and shit, it's gonna get scratched. Just sayin'. LOL

Yeah, the scratches look pretty nice, the more I look at it. But I don't know why people expected more -- did we not learn our lesson with the faux Lancer?
