Will the 360 price drop increase sales? With Microsoft dropping the price of the Xbox 360, one must wonder whom will this benefit. The hardcore gamers own the system, while the casuals aren't interested.

Will Microsoft see a big increase in sales? It’s highly unlikely.

To be honest, I can't see it making much of a difference. I don't think there are many people 50/50 on what console to get, which is the situation in which the price drop would make he difference. Your either PS3 or Xbox fan, and you will buy you favoured system, not the other because its a bit cheaper.

As for the casual gamers, I think that more and more people are starting to get put of the Xbox because of its reliability problems.

It'll mostly attract people who already on a Playstation 3 I'd say, but don't underestimate the quiet crowd. The hefty price drop could take away the Playstation 2 sales from Sony

Well the PS3 Slim has spurred some pretty enthusiastic pre-orders (and sales, for stores who let 'em out early), and those who are going for the Slim are those who were already wanting a PS3 and were just waiting for a price drop. Not to mention there are a lot of people still in the PS2 era who are probably upgrading to PS3 due to the price drop. I don't think Sony's in real immediate danger of losing much sales at this point.

zomg Red 9's a fanboy, lookit all dat pro-Sony BS!
