Why I Heart the XMB

The author takes a more positive approach to the current XMB after the 3.0 firmware update. After realizing most of the news has been negative, he decides to put out some good news and make up to the Playstation fanboys.

As of late I have been accused of promoting nothing but negative news towards the PS3 and particuallary the 3.0 update. Well you know, maybe that is right. I realized that there is plenty of good news and plenty to love about the XMB in particular. So I decided to list out what I do love about the XMB exclusively. The olive branch is out, so to speak.

    Why does it have to be making up to fanboys? Why can't something that's trying to be positive just be someone trying to counter-balance the pure hatred that is the gaming media (even if it's done shitly)?

          He posted the article and said it in the article description, thus commenting on it inside the GG article is completely valid because that's where the article description is. If you've got a complaint about my comment, surely by your logic you should have PM'd it to me. Thus I completely disagree.

    Eh, I don't think anyone needs to go around praising the updates of the XMB, though I don't get what all the hate is about for update 3.00. As far as I know Sony promised nothing, and realistically as such it should have been no bigger than any other update. People just set their hopes too high.

      I don't mind the update, but the fact it's 3.0 should mean something big. When you go up a number people have come to expect big changes. There's nothing wrong with them being disappointed.

      Also, can you not listen to music on the web browser anymore? NO I do not want to exit the browser, I just want some tunes....damn.

        Yes, you can listen to music still. Go to the music settings and set it to 48kHz instead of 44.1 / 88.2 / 176.4 kHz.

        Should solve that problem

          Yeah, I can listen on mine. I tried it after I posted.

          I was at a friend's house and his wouldn't work. It was right after he updated so I was pretty nervous.

          I don't use the browser much anyway though.

          If your friend still cannot, let him know about switching the options Especially if he likes to listen to the music! Glad it's working for yours

    Heh, my internet's been speed capped to dial-up speeds for a while now, so I haven't been able to update yet. However, I don't really care what's changed. As long as my PS3 doesn't suddelny grow teeth and chew up all my discs, then I'm alright.
