Spawn Kill writes about how Sony Online Entertainment are compacting their aging MMO, Star Wars Galaxies. There is a listing of 12 servers that will face the chop come October 15th, so head over to check if your galactic hero isn't on death's door.

The Star Wars universe obviously has a stronger following than that of The Matrix however, and still years after launch, there are still plenty of fans roaming the vast reaches of Star Wars Galaxies. It has also become obvious that with Bioware’s Old Republic getting closer and closer to completion, the guys at Sony are feeling the heat, and it’s far too late to try and draw in new players to a rusting title. Sony Online Entertainment allowed free character transfers, and with the huge success it held meant that server numbers became more compact as residents left their deserted home-worlds for more inhabited planets.
