ResumePlay's Michael Perry creates a list of enemies that will never grow stale as long as they keep evolving with the industry. Check the site for the full written list.

Action/Adventure/FPS/RPG and so on could not exist without you killing/engaging some sort of enemy. Of course, games recycle enemies over and over again, but there are some that stand out and could possibly never get old. I’ve compiled a list here of enemy types that I truly believe could never grow stale as long as they keep evolving with the times and continue to consistently challenge us.

Zombies will never die. Never. Man they certainly became super popular. I think it's due to the success of RE4 even if it didn't have zombies.

Machines can become quite boring however, then again that's usually if you are the machine as usually controls are just clunky.

I think it was mostly 28 Days/Weeks Later that everyone started ripping it from...and it wasn't even zombies.

wtf where did that 'douchebags' part come from? i think this guy may have some unsolved anger issues. that seemed totally unnecessary, and unrelated.

Saints Row, Prototype, GTA, most online FPS's; all have douchebags in them that are enjoyable to kill. It's not summfin 4 signtists to wrk owt.

Yup, like Saints Row 2, if someone says nothing to me or throws a compliment my way. I'll hit the ol' positive reaction button. Whenever someone talks shit, or dares to insult Carlos, I'm on em' with a *bleep*ing bat.

I can never get tired of the aliens. Mostly because there's such a wide area of freedom to create whatever crazy look you want. Robots, zombies, devils . . . all that has pretty much the same type of look unless you horribly mutate them or something. But aliens? Unlimited possibilities! Even looking like humans themselves.

...robots and devils have all the same type of look? So a Protectron from F3 looks exactly like a Transformer? And you should know that there are endless possibilities for devil types (they do mean just general demon too) since there are endless choices for the symbolism aspects (take Silent Hill 2 for example) and the many different sins from which to work on them. As for Zombies, in how many games these days are there zombies without a number of them being horribly mutated?

Well most robots are humanoid in appearance . . . At least the ones I've come across in games. I'll give you the demons though, there are a good bit of possibilities for those but I personally haven't really played any of the games with devils being a main enemy.

Zombies . . . well I just grow tired of the undead

Aliens and zombies are the classic enemies, and they're in countless games to date. I like robots and machines the best.
