With lower attendee numbers and a lack of stand-out Japanese games at this year's Tokyo Game Show, many gaming sites were left worrying over the state of the Japanese game industry. Capcom's Keiji Inafune also wasn't impressed with what the show had to offer, saying that "Japan is over. We're done. Our game industry is finished."
So is the Japanese game industry on the decline?

For more than a dozen years the Tokyo Game Show has been the barometer of that culture and the country's blossoming game development community.

But this year the show, which wrapped up over the weekend, reveals an industry scrambling to stay relevant in an increasingly westernized gaming world.
