Ripped abs, broad shoulders, big "guns", long legs, bad attitude, those are but a few of the stereotypes were are subjected to while playing video games. But if you want a more refined look at how things have changed from games past, here's an article that looks at today's ideal male and female in video games, and a few other images we are subjecting our kids to.

The face of today’s generation isn’t Mario or Sonic or Laura Croft or Gordon Freeman. No, the perennial mascot of today’s games is a nameless, faceless, single member of a larger American or Americanesque military force. If that man does have a name, it’s something juvenile like “Soap”. The Clancys, the Calls of Duty, the Medals of Honor, and all the Space Marine games too, they’re the major games for which today’s industry revolves around. And they all glorify living and dying for your squad to varying degrees.
