lwelyk of The Gaming Dungeon takes a look at an ABC web video about Metroid Prime being the Citizen Kane of video games, and their faulty reasoning behind this conclusion.

Watch this video from ABC, it is perhaps one of the worst “Citizen Kane of Gaming” discussions ever. First off, I wonder if Micheal Thompson has “Video Game Expert” on his business card, and how one acquires such a title. The worst part of this entire production is that at first, it seems like ABC understood what Citizen Kane actually meant. They start out asking if there is “a game that does for gaming, what Citizen Kane does for film.” When they cut to IGN’s “Video Game Expert” however, we see he is clearly not a film expert as he merely draws comparisons in thematic and plot elements between Citizen Kane and Metroid Prime instead of looking for a game that revolutionized gaming like Citizen Kane did for film.
