Did Batman: Arkham Asylum fail to capture the comic books' essense? Many don't think so, but Gameguru.in does.
Go to the source to find out why...

The essence of chaos seems absent in the game. The Joker is usually supposed to portray a future which is heavy on sarcasm and goe, AA proves to be neither with the Joker's lousy sense of humor and repetitive dialogues. Batman, not for a single moment, seems to be scared of with the chaos in Arkham Asylum. His indifference is most poignant when he rescues Commissioner Gordon who has been his trusted confidant for years. Not connecting with the player is the biggest flaw of Arkham, the characters never seem to have the aura they usually have portrayed in the graphic novel. Maybe we are completely off the edge here but AA feels like a game which just has Batman's and his villains' character models in it.

The game does a half-baked job of portraying the psyche of Batman and his enemies. Hopefully Rocksteady will fix these minor nuances of character development in the sequel.

Well gameguru is completely WRONG. I'm a big fan of the comics and can say that this game has captured everything Batman is and ever was from them.

    Also your link doesn't work.

That's strange. The link is working for me

I think it's, dare I say, insulting to call Arkham Asylum half-baked. Rocksteady obviously studied the crap outta the comics and animated series before making the games, and they obviously tried hard to keep the game true to the comics. They definitely knew what they were doing when they made this game.

Perhaps they are just doing this to get attention. :S But yeah, I own and have read many Batman comics, and I'd say that this is arguably the best game adaptation of a comic characters/series to date.

If Paul Dini, one of the best Batman writers, can join in and say he's very impressed by how well Rocksteady understood Batman, I think it's fair to say some shitty non-site talking crap about the game is just looking for attention.

Does everyone need to psychoanalyse every freakin game that comes out and is recived with outstanding score?

If that is the case, I predict about 5 more of these articles regarding Uncharted 2.

-Why Uncharted 2's graphics could have been better
-How Uncharted 2 rips off big-budget Hollywood movies
-Ways Uncharted 2 should have been executed.
    -blah blah blah

People are getting paid too much to pull garbage out of their ass and post it for all to see.

Or they're not getting paid at all, but want to and think these articles are the way to do that. They're not necessarily off...

Why this article and the writer are *bleep*ing stupid: They watched The Dark knight and think that makes them a god of Batman knowledge. One of the lesser known titles? Didn't have the hype or the following? That alone shows you know F all.

Do some research you silly retard.

The whole point of this game's universal acclaim is the fact that it DID capture the REAL gritty detective/dark hero in near perfect balance.

It created the perfect display of his fighting skills, intellect, agility, prowess, and overall...batmaness...

This writer was probably more a fan of the camp Adam West angle (BTW, I've never felt to strongly against an article until today and I've read high score Haze reviews!)

they obviously know nothing about Batman.

but bear in mind these are the same guys that gave the game "Up" a 7.5/10

I used to think that we should give these articles a chance because they could be presenting a point mainstream media is too scared to mention.

Then I realized they're all just bored and whiny, and their websites should be destroyed with fire.

Maybe not 'all' the sites >.>

That 'indie' site & this one are in the line of fire though.

What else can you expect from the guy who wrote this article? He calls comics graphic novels.

Obviously, he takes his comics very seriously, and is likely to criticize any error that he can imagine, whether it exists or not.

lol, only massive tools call comic books graphic novels!! ppl usually do that in order to avoid sounding like a geek, embarrassed to be reading them so they try to make it sound cooler. if you are ashamed of reading comics, then stop reading them!!

my definition of a graphic novel would be a novel, with several illustrations in it. ive read some of those before. mainly they are kids books, but ones that have text, then 1 picture that has to do with the story (no dialog bubbles either), then some more text, etc.

I'd have to disagree; if he took his comic books very seriously he wouldn't be saying the outright bullshit he does in the article.
