Japan's Gemaga recently compared the loading times of Tekken 6's Playstation 3 version and the Xbox 360 version. Read below for the results....

Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions compared with the game running installed on the hard drive as well as running off the actual disk. When the game is installed on the hardware, there isn't that big of a difference between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 — the Xbox 360 is slightly fast by a few seconds, but no biggie.

However, according to Gemaga, it takes over thirty seconds (33 seconds, to be exact) to change a character and change a stage running the actual game disc on the PS3, compared with the 11 seconds it takes to start a fight on the Xbox 360 using the game disc.

Yeah, load times are pretty rough for a game of today's standards, I have the PS3 version. Whilst I realize this is a 2-year-old port from the arcade, it's still a bit much. I choose my character (Law), wait a good few seconds for him to show up, then the opponent chooses their character, wait another good few seconds for them to show up, and then we hit the versus screen...waiting for both characters to show up. Finally it goes to the battle. Not sure how this will play out online.

I imagine the long load times has to do with the various customizations you can do for the characters, can give many complete makeovers. But still...I'm using the regular stuff, haven't tampered with the customization yet. Eh, it's not a major deal, just arcade mode can be hell this way. xD

Does anyone really give two shits about these stupid comparisons?

Nope, if the load times become that bad I turn them into a selling point. It means while I wait for each fight I can go make something to eat, get a drink. In that frame of mind 33 second loads are a blessing haha. Seriously though it doesn't bother me what differences there are between platforms as long as the game works and is fun.

you wouldn't think that it is that bad, but it gets kinda annoying.

I'm very much used to Atari and Amiga games in the late 80's early 90's on floppy discs that took 80 seconds to load every few minutes or so. 33 seconds is nothing.

and i was very much used to 56k internet in the 90s that took 80 seconds to load every web page, but it still annoying when i have do download files at 100kb/s on my 2MB/s connection from a cheap ass website.
