While many media outlets critisized Modern Warfare 2's airport scene, there were just as many people who didn't see the big deal. Gamerlimit.com's James Pinnell has a different stance. He wants to see MORE missions like it. Go to the source to find out why

[Needless to say, there are a few spoilers in this article, but I shall try to keep them to a minimum.]

The significance of Modern Warfare 2 and its drip fed pre-launch information are nothing without the controversies that have followed its tumultuous path to existence. We’ve had price concerns, format concerns, distribution concerns, and most recently, content concerns regarding the much lauded “Airport Scene”, in which the player becomes part of a terrorist attack.

There were reactions from all corners of the media, with many lambasting Infinity Ward for scratching the still soft and throbbing sore on the belly of America’s national psyche. Others simply questioned the point of the level’s existence, claiming that it was nothing but another gear in the Activision hype machine that has consumed the media for the past year.

I take a different stance, I not only appreciate, and frankly, applaude the decision to include the scene, but I personally think more games need to break invisible taboos, and stop being afraid of the backlash that may or may not follow.

I agree with the guy in the article. I may not have played MW2 yet but I've seen the video and to be fair if it's a 18 game Infinity Ward can put whatever the *bleep* they want in!

Some things are, and should always be, off-limits for games. No matter the rating.

I don't like Call of Duty that much. I think it's just another generic war shooter but seeing the mission no russian made it look different and original and actually makes me want to play it. Nothing should be off-limits for games. Game Designers shouldn't hold back their ideas just because they think someone might not like it. If you're gunna cry about it then don't play it.

Why should anything be off-limits for anyone or anything?

I played this holy controversial level.

I don't get what the big deal is. Its no different then gunning down innocent civilians in GTA4(and you have a larger pool of weapons to kill with).

I slaughtered everyone I could at the airport to fit the 'guise of a CIA-Terrorist.

To be honest, the scene is important to the story, and a strong way get things going.

    And, it made me think.

The level was like Marylin Manson. Once you got past the shock factor, it had little to no substance.

I loved the "No Russian" stage actually, and I agree with the author. It's an amazing storytelling element that you can only get from a game: placing you in the shoes of a terrorist (well, faux-terrorist). The only shortcoming I see here is that the gravity of the scene might be lost on the usual Call of Duty crowd...

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the MW2 story. It's really the first HD game that nearly brought me to tears, and I haven't felt that way about a game, movie, or book in a very, very long time. Though in retrospect, Hans Zimmer was 80% responsible.

ModernWarfare 2 nearly brought you to tears? Seriously? There are far better single player experiences out there with much better storylines. How could you possibly get attached to these characters?

        Because I can?

I'm all for getting into a game and allowing yourself to be affected by it emotionally, metal gear really gets to me by the end of each game, but I just have trouble seeing how you could possibly be touched by MW2. I mean sure to each his own but the characters were so bland, such cutout representations of any random action movie.

Besides, no one lived long enough to grow on you. Infinity Ward tried to shock you every time you turned a corner by killing off another main character. It was just predictable and lame by the end.

Call of Duty 2 Big Red One made me bawl.

By the end, my entire team was dead. My teammates screamed their names, but our leader said "KEEP MOVING!"

      *sniff*

Censorship never solves anything. This level was a powerful part of the overall narrative that is no different from watching a dramatic scene in a movie, reading a book, etc. It was powerful, and it was excellent.
