With recent releases of Facebook and Twitter on consoles, many gamers are questioning if these social networking even belong consoles. The whole purpose of consoles and video games are to be suspended from reality, and social networking just grabs you and pulls you back. Well that is what Steve Boxer at CVG believes. What is your say on this new fad for social networks being available on almost every electronic device?

So now we can update Facebook and tweet on our Xbox 360s and PS3s. Forgive me if, instead of jumping up and down with glee, I fail to stifle a plaintive moan.

One of the curses of the 21st century is the way in which pretty much every day, a new Next Big Thing emerges, which will inevitably change the world forever. Invariably, each Next Big Thing is web-related, and in recent years, an example of social networking.

I'm afraid I'm suffering from social networking-fatigue now. You're lucky if my Facebook status is updated in any given week. Tumbleweed blows across my MySpace account, even though half of my mates are musicians.

I can see where this guy is coming from. I mean, I understand that there are probably a lot of people out there who are excited for this; the whole point is to expand and appeal to a broader demographic after all.

In the middle of checking out the Twitter and Facebook features on Xbox LIVE, I realized that I didn't want my LIVE friends mingling with my FB ones. Frankly, it's just creepy, and there's a barrier there I'd rather maintain.

But hey, no one's forcing us to use 'em right?

The number one reason why I haven't linked my FB with my PS3. I don't need all the babes thinking I'm a game freak... ...wait....

I'm hesitant to use the PS3 FB features because I don't know how intrusive the PS3 updates are on the Facebook page.

Its every time you update your profile. So if you dont want your facebook to get bombarded with trophy unlocks, you can do it every time you unlock a trophy. Not at the end of every session

It's not very intrusive. The trophies are only added when you sync your trophies. So if you want you can just sync after getting like 10 trophies and they will just show up in one post.Or sync after each trophy if you want like 20 trophy updates.
Also the update only shows the actual games trophy logo, not the pics you get for each individual trophy.

tbh, I play consoles to get away from the damn social networking, and if a little tag saying "sent from XBox Live" I'll look like some addict.

To be honest though anyone that knows you most likely already knows you are some kind of addict. I mean unless you lie and keep gaming a social secret from everyone you know for some reason they probably already know. A trophy update or a status update saying "is now playing Halo 3" is not going to change anyones opinion on you. I personally enjoy this feature, sure it's gonna annoy some people but I no longer care. If they don't like my trophy updates and purchase updates they can hide my updates on Facebook haha.

FB on PS3 doesnt even show profile or nothing. All it is is posts your trophies when you earn one or more on Facebook. It's really nothing.

Only thing you can do on the XBOX360 is update your status. That's it. You can check profiles of others but only if you have them added on Facebook. You can also see if anyone else in your facebook friends has XBOX Live.
