Sean Foster of Gamingconsolenetwork.com has written an interesting article on what he believes Nintendo need to do with their next console. Go to the source for the full article.

Iwata is a great man with a great mind, but I really feel that Nintendo needs to shake some of the old ways set in Japan. These set ways affect every country. That is why we are stuck with what we have in the US and the UK. Nintendo of Japan makes the call on everything. I really feel that these are the reasons why there’s a hold-up on having a robust online community, HD graphics and new IP’s.

In other words, let's reiterate what many people have been saying for quite some time.

You just described the entire non-retarded side of gaming journalism.

Generally gaming journalism that isn't flame-bait, fanboy bullshit, lists and other such retardation is basically people saying things that people already knew and have been saying for a long time, yes.

Even the actual news is usually just confirmation of leaked information people already knew anyway.

Almost everything that isn't flame-bait, fanboyism, lists and other such stupidity is just saying things people already knew, yes.

Edit: Stupid freaking posting glitch making me think it never went through the first time

While true, it's rarely to the extent of this.

Nintendo doesn't need to change anything.

As gamers we want them to change because we want the wii to actually be a good gaming console. As it is Nintendo are still some how dominating the market so change is the opposite of what they NEED.

Its a problem for future consoles though, they are going to have to release the same shareware and shit on the next console too. Because if they want to get back into the gamer scene there going to have to push REALLY hard to get their trust back. Right now the only real gamers they got playing are the nintendo fanboys and even their being shafted.

It's a worrying trend as I see more and more Nintendo fans turned away from the console.

I suppose if the casual crowd buy Wii2 en masse they won't care about reaching the core gamers though.

Hurr durr, I can argue semantics of wording even though their meaning was obvious so I'm witty.

Nintendo has a current state, with its own audience. Sure it doesnt appeal to FPS or hardcore RPG fans, but it has the younger generation's brighter games.
