Have you ever thought that the Zelda series has been just a tad bit too easy lately? If you have, I think you share a common opinion with most core gamers about the Zelda Franchise. ZeldaInformer takes a look into this issue, and offers up the possible solution of a Difficulty Setting.
I wouldn't say the drop in difficulty has been due to the puzzles--going back and playing the older games I find they're really no more difficult in this arena--nor that we can blame the more linear story structure--we've been told, either directly or indirectly, where to go next in basically every game since A Link to the Past. No, the lapse in difficulty is much more fundamental than that. It has everything to do with the amount of damage Link takes, as well as what he can dish out compared to his enemies.
Remember those bosses from the NES and SNES games that took away three or more of your hearts? There hasn't been one since the jump to GameCube, and most enemies we face nowadays chip at mere fractions of your life energy. Remember when obstacles and enemies fired at you nonstop as long as you had the audacity to remain in the same room? Now they fire at a much slower rate, and only when you get particularly close. Remember when large groups of enemies kept you on your toes? With any of the moves in your extensive repertoire, you can now dispatch them all at once with no problem (usually before any of them even raise their clubs).

The LoZ series always focused on puzzles and mysteries and you trying to solve them. Usually the enemies in the game can be taken down rather easily and are just there for added entertainment.
Thing is the puzzles in twilight princess where a joke, (with the exception of the water temple) and where quite easy to solve. A difficulty setting would just make the enemy hit a bit harder and since combat in LoZ is so basic it's really not necessary.
They need to focus more on larger exploration, mixing up how things are done and of course harder puzzles. I'm not sure if changing the difficulty from normal to hard will have much an effect on these 3 key points to the series.
Just make all the temples, like the water temples. Gruesomely difficult.
Though demo play destroys the very purpose of LoZ so I wonder if the next game will be any more difficult.
We're not asking for much, its not like we're asking for a whole 'Master Quest parallel universe where all the temples are completely different' (as long as the levels in the game aren't piss easy to begin with [they definately need some more puzzle solving]). Just one that make enemies do more friggin damage, it can't be that hard surely.
And why did everyone find the Water Temple so hard, it was a snap if you had a working brain and somewhat of decent problem solving skills.
While these articles are good for discussion, they most likely will not dissuade Nintendo in anyway despite how much popularity or support it gets.
Why else would MW2 for the PC be.....have....umm......
and......well.....
I'll just sit down now...
Link's Awakening had less life but then again you could jump away from stuff too.
Not to mention "change" is a bit silly when Legend of Zelda did 2nd Quest before such things were deemed cool and next-gen.
We're not in 1987 anymore.
