Nathanial Rumphol-Janc takes a deeper look into the character that is Link, from The Legend of Zelda series. He delves into the connections between Link and the player, and debates on whether or not Nintendo needs to take a step forward with the character.
Lets look at things objectively first. Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma have both staked claims that Link is you. It's often the reason given that if voice acting were to happen, no one wants Link to talk. Often times it the reasoning we have for him not having as much emotion as someone who is saving the world should have. Developer intent is that Link is us, so thus, he must be. Not so fast.

If you want a talking link that is still you,they could always take a page from Bioware's book by giving you the ability to choose what you want to say to someone. That way,Link would pretty much have the player's personality
